I'm a big fan of X Japan (1996-and before) and D'erlanger, I was fortunate to be sent their return album and singles by the label and also early Dir en Grey.

m.o.v.e is cool! I actually did the 10th Anniversary interview with them back in '08 and reviewed every single and album at one point. But they are pretty awesome people.
Your pretty lucky you got those albums. I only got the first one, Lazarro. It was pretty good I think. I still like la vie en rose and their older stuff with the lead vocalist "dizzy". Its a big more speed metal/glam metal sounding than their newer stuff.

I still like X, but I find I only can listen to Vanishing vision and their early independent releases.

Actually, "Yokosuka" Saber tiger is pretty good. Its the group Hide from X and Kyo from D'erlanger were in before their later bands.

I saw dir en grey a few times when they were touring the USA in 2006-2007. I was pretty bummed, they play nothing from their first two albums. Its almost like they act like they don't exist anymore to fit into the "nu metal" genre now.

A funny comment about alot of those earlier Visual Kei bands, like X Japan, Dead End, etc. I think I recall reading a story most of those guys were just designing costumes that looked like characters from Macross and other anime of the time period. Obviously with their own flair, but I remember toshi being cited as doing such. I think the newer Visual Kei takes it alot more seriously than they did....

Right now I'm listening to OUTRAGE, my favorite of what Japanese has to offer in the heavy metal scene.....

A like a bunch of different Japanese music, but a couple of the ones I keep coming back to are:

Capsule:
Capsule - Jumper: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viycVSrrCXk&ob=av2n
Capsule - Starry Sky: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LA37DbXmx9E

Nirgilis:
Nirgilis - Bed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWUI9fOHZHY (pardon the fad-made video, couldn't find any other version)
Nirgilis - Kiseki: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jz9tyHmAZk (ditto)

Hmm, well, the Capsule songs were cool, like a mix between Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk, but autotuned vocals are a pet peeve of mine. I can't listen to autotuned vocals without thinking of Rebecca Black. The Nirgilis songs were rather nice though. Thanks for sharing!

Memorial Day Weekend was a heavy listening J-Pop holiday weekend for me...listening to some old school music and some newer CD's...

Yesterday was the five year anniversary of ZARD's Izumi Sakai's death... had to show some ZARD love...And just love Izumi Sakai's voice.

Image

Image

Max's "Tora Tora Tora" and photos of a few of the members of the group. Interviewed them a few years ago...

Image

Old school ELT..."Dear My Friend"

Image

I did break out an old anime CD single...Ryoko Shinohara's "Street Fighter II" the movie theme song "koishisato setsunasato kokorozuyosato" and "Good Luck".

Image

Scha Dara Parr and Kenji Ozawa's "Konya wa Boogie Back":

Image

Had to listen to the old Hello! Project color groups...the booklets were from the final graduation for the elder members of the Hello! Project groups and a booklet for the newer members of Morning Musume and other Hello! Project groups...

Image

Had to listen to Nakayama Miho's "Treasury":

Image

Was in a "Nana" mood...or more like TRAPNEST and Black Stones mood and had to listen to Olivia inspi' REIRA and Anna Tsuchiya inspi' NANA...

Image

Image

Old school Yuki Uchida

Image

Big Mr. Children fan...had to break out some oldies.. like "Hana"

Image

And often get into the mood of listening to '70's J-Pop once in awhile

Image

And today... as our Memorial Day Holiday ends...my J-Pop listening ended with...

AAA's "Alohaaa!"

Image

m-flo loves Bonnie Pink "Love Song"

Image

Rankin Taxi's "Shinumade Ikiru"

Image

Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra's "BEST OF SKA 1998-2007"

Tokyo Motor Show Compilation Remix

Unfortunately No. I've never been to Japan. Been wanting to go for many many years, never had the opportunity.........Nay, I tell a lie, I've had plenty of opportunity but my Wife would always plan our vacation before I knew we even had one.

I did not see them in Japan either, but they have some clips on youtube

Morrie's voice is just gone or got all Visual Kei'd up, even on the classics.
