WOW, so...Funimation announced they'll be releasing Speed Racer on blu-ray in the states! o__o With the original Japanese version as well as the English one. I wasn't expecting that! I'll be interested to see how the quality is, given how old the materials are now.
Also, streaming site Viewster announced they picked up the rights to stream Key The Metal Idol world-wide (excluding Japan and Asia), subtitled only it sounds like. No date of when it'll be up tho.

The Tatsunoko Speed Racer blu-ray ads made it out to look really good. I'm assuming Funi is using the same materials. And since it was one of the few 60s TV anime shot on 35 mm, the materials should be in better condition than, say, the 60s Astro Boy was or any number of older anime. I don't want to raise my expectations too high but I am expecting this to look noticeably better than the 70s Casshern on blu ray, which seems to have been filmed in 16mm.

Ah! Yes, I forgot to post that here. They also got all of the Gaiking TV series, so you don't have to watch those dub compilation movies anymore!llj wrote:Announced a few days ago, but not sure it was mentioned here... Discotek has Wicked City. Finally.
