Yeah, this new season of Crystal is SO much more polished. This arc is def the fan favorite, both in the manga & the 90s anime, makes me wonder if that's why they took so much care with this season. I'm enjoying it lots, all the cool stuff from the manga that wasn't in the anime is finally animated (and I actually like some of the new stuff they're doing! Ami diving head-first into a pool & jumping out as Sailor Mercury?? That was awesome!!)

I really want to see more Gundam Thunderbolt. GundamInfo had the first ep legally on YouTube & I loved it!....but never put any of the rest. Sigh. I hear they're making a dub for it, tho! That's cool.

I've been watching this season of Crystal, which I've called Yurimoon. So. Much. Yuri. I expected Haruka/Michiru (obviously) and Usagi trying to figure out her sexuality when it comes to Haruka, but Chibiusa getting all unyuu (CCS reference) around Hotaru...? I noticed that this week's episode replaced the OP singer. I thought it was an improvement, but it's still not that great of a song (though I'm totally learning how to run like Sailor Moon). I also didn't like the new ED song.

I wasn't too impressed by the splash of Ami's pool entrance. It looked really comical in regards to the supposed badass-ness of Ami's transformation.

I still don't understand what's up with the transformation sequences. I'm cool if they want to give the girls entirely new animation, but then why make almost a frame-for-frame duplicate of Uranus & Neptune's transformation?

Yeah idk why they made Uranus & Neptune's the same as from the 90s series down to every frame...possibly because of how popular they are, they were afraid to change em? That's the only thing I could think of. I was a bit disappointed about that. :\

Just watched Act.30 (Ep. 31 on Hulu) and thought this episode was really solid - I'm with usamimi in that I liked Mercury's transformation diving into the pool - hope the staff does more stuff like that. While I've always liked the Outer Senshi's transformations (Ok, I'll admit, I am a total mark/unashamed fan for the Outer Senshi, if I'd not mentioned it by now), it's nice to see them scaled up like they are in this series. I hope that the staff does experiment with them, just for the wow factor but considering those scenes were always stock footage, I am afraid they might not do anything too adventurous with them.

I just got back from watching Belladonna of Sadness...

What a goddamned film. I was clapping at the end.

Thank God that somebody thought this film should be brought to America. I can say without a doubt I will never regret having gone to see it.

I'm so bummed I didn't live close enough to any place showing it in theaters. It's such a fantastic movie. I'm really excited about the upcoming blu-ray!! I'm also grateful someone saw the value in it, it really is a gem.

I have no shame; Stig-Chan/Lime-Senpai is reason enough to watch that show. :D
Most of the "Girls in a Club" anime I've seen have their hobby promotion weaved in nicely. Of course, it may take some goofy comedy or fanservice to make things like airsoft guns or brass instruments seem cool. The only such show that I'd say failed in this regard was Genshiken 2.

Lime is insanely awesome. :)

It's so, so very earnest, so 'genki' as they say.

OK, I'm watching Macross Delta and enjoying the heck out of it.

I have the impression that in general anime fandom I am 'wrong' for this. Not that I care one whit. :)

I get it. I really do. Big West has decided that Macross is a very flexible base concept and it can 'blend' with whatever current trend is popular, so now Idol Group saving the galaxy takes center stage.

Why is this seemingly so hated by some? Is it just the basic "this isn't what *I* expect from Macross why can't it be like (name of fav Macross show) like I want it to be?! OUTRAGE!!" or is the the Robotechies venting or what?

The world building is very interesting. I see the line they walk trying to keep references to Macross DYRL and not the HG controlled (outside Japan) TV series, I'm not at ALL sure how a 'seacat' would be reasonable but hey, whatever. I can roll with it.
