Nice, Usamimi! You always seem to be busy with a bunch of cool extracurricular things in your life. Damn, can't help but feel like I'm just too lazy compared to other people.

That's pretty damn awesome! Almost makes me wish not only that I had a BD player, but the money to have gotten in on this. :)

Know what is missing, that would have made it even more epic? A special pressing of the CD Single that had the 4 verse Otaking song.

It's always good to see new Sonoda art. It's a shame he seems to have fallen out of favor or whatever.

and I have long thought there needed to be a new Otaku no Video chapter, letting Giant X have their Evangelion moment.

As far as I can tell, if Sonoda comes to America for cons, it seems to be at comic conventions than anime conventions. He was at some west coast comic con last year, and I think he choose that over Animazement, but don't quote me on that.

I have no idea what my custom artbook sketch by Sonoda is gonna look like. I asked Robert about it at Animazement and he didn't give me an answer, but then again I wanted to be surprised. Sonoda is a guy I have been wanting to meet in person for 10 years now when I started to get back into anime hard after high school. I have one of his artbooks someone on myspace sent me about 10 years ago, before I heard she went crazy and left everyone online she ever knew. That sucker is still on my bookshelf, ill never part with that baby.

Aww! Heh, I guess I'm one of those people that likes to have lots of things to do. It's got it's pros and cons! ;)

I'd recommend picking it up even if you might not have a BD player at the moment. Once it's gone, it's gone, much like Bubblegum Crisis.

Actually, the little square envelopes in the first pic are the vintage CD singles that include the full version of it! Robert was gifted some from Gainax's warehouse & there was a lottery for who would get them. I was lucky enough to have my numbers chosen! I haven't listened to em yet but Im excited to hear it~

Dkop - Sonoda was at Emerald City Comic Con, if that's what you were thinking of. I heard someone say he likes comic conventions more because he can relax a bit more & wonder around without people approaching him constantly... If that's true, I can understand why he'd chose them over anime cons, to be honest.

Well, that's really cool, Usamimi, but I know I'm being unclear or I'm not understanding.

I recall reading long ago that there was a special CD Single release, one of those mostly forgotten 3 inch mini CDs, of 戦え!おたキング and おたくの迷い道 that had a 4 verse version rather than the 2 verses on both a standard CD Single and the OST CD.

Yes of course I have the OST CD. :)

Now, your picture of the CD is inconclusive. If it doesn't have the 4 verse Otaking, then it's the stock standard CD Single. Which is cool, don't get me wrong. Direct from a Gainex back room, that's awesome.

They are exactly that. The 1982 CD has the full Tatakae! Otaking song. It even has the lyrics printed on the tiny envelope.

The 1985 single has the karaoke version. ;)

You're going to hate me. I'mma gonna take you to school. :)

Actually, no, here's from AnimEgo themselves.

(it's near the bottom)

It does not appear you have the super rare 'lost lyrics' CD.

but it's still cool!

Is it the lyrics you're pointing out? Hmm. From what Robert said, the CDs are rare (promotional only) so I figured the whole thing was on there. I haven't had a chance to listen to em yet myself. So there's a second promo single with an even longer version?

Edit: so I popped in both singles and the first one has a version of Tatake! Otaking that's about 3:30 long. But it's a Karaoke track. The second CD single has the karaoke version of Otaku Youth Graffiti Medley & it's nearly 7 minutes long  both have The Lost Way of Otaku, first CD has iteith vocals, the 2nd has the karaoke track.

If you can, throw up a pic of the lyrics page for Lost Way of Otaku, on TMSD-002. That may have the 3rd and 4th verse and it might be the 4 verse Karaoke.

A Karaoke version of the Otaku Medley would be insane.

I had wondered if that liner note was a further SUPER OBSCURE in-joke generated by the Gainax crew, a reference to the long-lost 4-verse version of Space Battleship Yamato.
