I've seen some of it posted online. I think all the Spider-Man episodes are available. I'll try to remember next time. Bixby's The Magician isn't though. I have the complete run of episodes. Maybe I should transfer those over before they deteriorate further. Anything else you are looking for?Kame-Sen'nin wrote:I really miss that era of the Sci-Fi channel! Things like The Magician with Bill Bixby, Spider-Man with Nicholas Hammond, Planet of the Apes TV series, The Powers of Mathew Star, etc. These also had wonderful interviews with the cast and crew that unfortunately don't appear on any DVDs...if they came out (and most were never released on DVD). Luckily I have most of them still on tape as I was recording them from satellite at the time or getting them from friends with BUDs (Big Ugly Dishes...the old C Band ones that were 10 feet across or more). Got lots of old tapes like that...
That's really cool that you have tapes with so much of this content; don't lose those tapes!
90's Sci-Fi Channel Saturday Anime

Re: 90's Sci-Fi Channel Saturday Anime
Have any of you here watched CometTV? It's an antenna-accessible channel based in Los Angeles, but many places around the US get their feed.
They run a lot of old cultish-sci-fi/horror/fantasy stuff, mostly culled from the MGM catalogue.
Lots of interesting old things pop up on the channel. They currently air Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot on Saturday and Sunday Mornings, and two episodes at around midnight on late Sunday-early Mondays.
They have been airing Alakazam the Great several times during the past few weeks, although like most of their movie airings, it is shown in SD and 4:3 aspect ratio instead of its original widescreen.

Re: 90's Sci-Fi Channel Saturday Anime
Yea CometTV is that station that has a stream on their site to see what they are airing without really paying for their channel. They have some really obscure stuff that I never heard of before I did some looking to watch them myself (like Vicious Lips, which that was... something to watch, great music btw).
I'd assume they might get some anime properties that are sci-fi related one day, but we'll see.

Re: 90's Sci-Fi Channel Saturday Anime
Technically their channel is free...I mean you can get it without cable and just with the antenna/digital tuner. But oddly enough it's harder to get IF you have cable it seems.
Re: 90's Sci-Fi Channel Saturday Anime
As far as anime goes, I think they would only air stuff that's part of the MGM library. So I'd be looking for more of those old Toei movies, like Magic Boy (but you can get Magic Boy on DVD through the Warner Archive line anyway)

It looks like initially they were considering bumping it up an hour to noon rather than cancelling; with plans to run another anime series at 11:00am. (https://groups.google.com/forum/message ... CnkG5P__QJ)
Here's a (partial?) tentative schedule:
12:00 PM EST:
01/15/2000: Gall Force: Eternal Story
01/22/2000: Venus Wars
01/29/2000: Roujin Z
However, the timeslot was actually filled for 2000 by Space: Above and Beyond and First Wave. Once those wrapped up, it was devoted to Scinema Feature, a sci-fi film slot, and maybe in a concession to fans, occasionally showed anime films as well, although not as a dedicated block.
12:00 PM EST 02/03/2001: Scinema Feature - Galaxy Express 999: The Signature Edition
02:00 AM EST (technically Sunday) 02/17/2001: Scinema Feature - Armitage III: Poly-Matrix
Saturday Anime premiered on September 30, 1995 at 9am EST, after Sci-Fi Animation Station was moved to a different timeslot:

11/27/1999: Roujin Z
12/04/1999: Armitage 3: Poly-Matrix

02:00 AM EST (technically Sunday) 02/17/2001: Scinema Feature - Armitage III: Poly-Matrix
mbanu: What's between Old School and New School?
runesaint: Hmmm. "Middle School", perhaps?

Re: 90's Sci-Fi Channel Saturday Anime
These listings are a gold mine of info. It's always good to have this stuff archived and cataloged somewhere on the net for people to see. I've had to do this with some Toonami Schedules I am curious about. Thanks for finding this out!!!
