Your pretty lucky you got those albums. I only got the first one, Lazarro. It was pretty good I think. I still like la vie en rose and their older stuff with the lead vocalist "dizzy". Its a big more speed metal/glam metal sounding than their newer stuff.kndy wrote:I'm a big fan of X Japan (1996-and before) and D'erlanger, I was fortunate to be sent their return album and singles by the label and also early Dir en Grey.raiderfan99 wrote:Is anyone into Loudness, EZO, anthem, casbah, crowley, GISM, etc.? m.o.v.e is cool! I actually did the 10th Anniversary interview with them back in '08 and reviewed every single and album at one point. But they are pretty awesome people.Heibi wrote:I've got tons of Anime soundtracks. I love the J-Pop as well. The groups MOVE, Psys, and several others, including solo work by some voice actresses. Maya Sakamoto being one. I also like the cultural sounding music in the background - classics-like.
I still like X, but I find I only can listen to Vanishing vision and their early independent releases.
Actually, "Yokosuka" Saber tiger is pretty good. Its the group Hide from X and Kyo from D'erlanger were in before their later bands.
I saw dir en grey a few times when they were touring the USA in 2006-2007. I was pretty bummed, they play nothing from their first two albums. Its almost like they act like they don't exist anymore to fit into the "nu metal" genre now.
A funny comment about alot of those earlier Visual Kei bands, like X Japan, Dead End, etc. I think I recall reading a story most of those guys were just designing costumes that looked like characters from Macross and other anime of the time period. Obviously with their own flair, but I remember toshi being cited as doing such. I think the newer Visual Kei takes it alot more seriously than they did....
