Say usamimi, I've just finished Socerer Hunters on Retro Crush, and then I found out that it came from a light novel. There was quite a good number of fantasy light novel in the 19990s, wasn't it? Socerer Hunters, Sorcerous Stabber Orphen, Slayers, Record of Lodoss War, etc. And with the Slayers novels are now being localized, would you maybe think about making an episode on 1990s light novels? I wonder how fans back in the days get their information/spoiler from these novels as they were published in Japan?
And while we are in that topic, what about an episode about the 1990s isekai boom, with shows like Fushigi Yûgi and The Twelve Kingdoms. It would be fun to see you contrasting these shows with the modern isekai crop.

Ah, that's not a bad idea! I might keep that in mind, if I have the time to do more research on some of that.Fireminer wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 7:17 am Say usamimi, I've just finished Socerer Hunters on Retro Crush, and then I found out that it came from a light novel. Re: The Anime Nostalgia Podcast & Blog
this episode in particular struck the nostalgia chords. Robot Carnival is what really hit me with so many emotions and so much inspiration when seeing it for the first time on Sci-Fi. My first time seeing Iria the Ziram Animation was on Sci-Fi too. Rad podcast.usamimi wrote: ↑Sat May 17, 2014 12:42 pm New episode! Me and returning guest Zee (you might remember her from the Year in Review) talk about good ol' Saturday Anime on Sci-Fi Channel: http://animenostalgia.tumblr.com/post/8 ... cast-ep-14
Also tomorrow I'll be posting my very first CONTEST/GIVEAWAY to celebrate the upcoming 1-year anniversary of the podcast so stay tuned! ;D

Thanks! Wow, that's a blast from the past, an episode all the way back from 2014!
Robot Carnival will always hold such a special place in my heart, I was so happy to get to help Discotek with their bluray release.

It's a wonderful episode! I was not even aware that Megumi voiced Ranma. I hope you will talk more about seiyuus in the future.usamimi wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 11:43 am New episode up! My first ever Seiyuu Spotlight, all about the iconic Megumi Hayashibara! https://t.co/1zAaobhl9u?amp=1
Anyway, after watching Godzilla vs. Kong, I started to wonder if there is any pre-2000s non-mecha anime about kaijus?

Talk about Kaiju movies is best for the "Other TV, Movies, Books & Comics" subforum!

Ah, once again I forgot to put a link to the new ep here as well, so here was April's episode! http://animenostalgia.blogspot.com/2021 ... ep-98.html
Also, ANN reached out to me to write an article about the career of Osamu Kobayashi, sadly because of this recent passing. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/featur ... hi/.172073
