I think some doujinshi artists and fanfic writers still call pieces they make with adult content "lemons". I remember when that was a really common term, too, heh.
Some older H series actually have really great animation. It's been a long time since I saw Urotsukidoji, but I remember liking the character designs.

Watched Taro the Dragon Boy the other day. I wish Discotek would bring over some more of the old "Toeiscope" era anime. It's such a treat watching anime in scope ratio widescreen. I don't know why there haven't been any anime movies since those days that animate for scope widescreen format. Someone releasing Little Prince and the Eight Headed Dragon and Gulliver in Space on DVD or BD would be nice.

Regarding audio, in general, you should treat all of Toei's older anime TV series as guilty until proven innocent, so, yes, those releases probably all have the muffled optical soundtrack. For those who don't know what I'm referring to, see here: http://forum.animepast.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=142_D_ wrote:I was going to pick up some of the English subbed versions of things like Dairugger 15 and Go Lion but I see some bad reviews saying the audio is poor or they never cleaned up the prints or there are artifacting problems. Wonder if this is related to the problems with the masters of some of the older Toei titles? Anyone have any experience with these DVDs?
Regarding video, that's a whole different issue, and it's a multi-faceted one at that. Not having things cleaned up, artifacting problems, etc are probably not so much issues with Toei's own master copies as opposed to other things going on. Pop Chaser is awesome! It has the longest and most boring lesbian love scene, however. I mean it just went on and on. There's something weird about watching hentai and thinking "enough with the boring old sex, get back to the hoverbike!"ryoran wrote:Haha, I find myself collecting some of the older hentai JUST for the animation. This is going to sound sort of...awkward, lol. BUT WE'RE ALL ADULTS HERE.danth wrote:Pop Chaser is awesome! It has the longest and most boring lesbian love scene, however. Well, you've changed my perspective. But I'd still rather see hoverbikes.ryoran wrote: This is going to sound sort of...awkward, lol. BUT WE'RE ALL ADULTS HERE.Though I am speaking from an artist stand point as well as a fan, but I think it's one of the best, if not THE best lesbian scene I've seen in an anime. Most of the time, it's really just...pointless gratuitous scenes with over the top "grossness", from what I've seen or had the unfortunate honor of seeing. In Pop Chaser, it was kind of cute, the artwork was clean and there was emotion. There wasn't a need to show anything too explicit, and there are subtleties in the animation that set it apart from other hentai. Such as Rio's arch of her back, the camera placement, and Mai's fingertips gliding across Rio's legs. It was pretty, passionate, and well animated. I'd say everything else compared to it is pretty boring. Sure no one can deny the awesomeness that is Rio's hover bike and how she's pretty badass, but I'd say beautiful scenes like that are VERY hard to come by in hentai, or anime in general. The most disappointing part of the short was that Mai wanted to marry the douchebag guy that kidnapped her at the end.

Wow. I don't remember that part. Actually, I don't even remember any sex scene. I must have fast forwarded through all that just to watch the hoverbike stuff (I must be one of the few guys who don't get turned on by lesbians).ryoran wrote:The most disappointing part of the short was that Mai wanted to marry the douchebag guy that kidnapped her at the end.

Right there with ya greg. I've never seen Pop Chaser, but now am tempted just so I can fully appreciate danth's perspective of "less gratuitous sex, more hoverbike!" Makes me REALLY curious about this hoverbike.greg wrote:Wow. I don't remember that part. Actually, I don't even remember any sex scene. Re: What are you Watching?
I like sex scenes and I do own some hentai FOR the sex scenes.
The problem is when they are poorly animated or poorly drawn, like so many hentai usually are, I get turned off. Nothing worse than artists who don't understand proper human anatomy. And I don't mean exaggerated boobs or bodies, I mean literally poorly drawn human bodies.
Would love to see Pop Chaser one day.

Quite a few of the shorts in Cream Lemon besides Pop Chaser are pretty well done. Vampire Princess Miyu's Narumi Kakinouchi is responsible for one of the shorts, and it's very pretty. They are pretty entertaining.llj wrote:I like sex scenes and I do own some hentai FOR the sex scenes. The problem is when they are poorly animated or poorly drawn, like so many hentai usually are, I get turned off. But yes, I agree that a good I dunno...80% of hentai is poorly drawn due to terrible anatomy and pretty bad animation.
