Star Blazers Remastered
Re: Star Blazers Remastered
Up where I am torrents are not safe and there are now many lawsuit happy companies out there. These companies are trying to get a civil case going so fines can be set by the courts. So far the ISPs are resisting these lawsuit happy trolls but its only a matter of time. This happened because of politicians that think helping US companies over Canadian citizens is a good thing.

I figured that was the case. A bit before my time as a fan. Fascinating...davemerrill wrote:Back in the day, and I'm talking WAY BACK IN THE DAY, before everybody had VCRs, we'd sometimes record our favorite TV shows onto audio cassette, just so we'd be have SOME recording of the show, even if it was just the audio.

Re: Star Blazers Remastered
I used to audio-record Monty Python, Star Blazers, SCTV, just to listen to later, back in the pre-VCR days. It was pleasant to listen to while doing homework or whatever, even if the more visual stuff is lost in the transition.
Re: Star Blazers Remastered
Come to think of it, I actually did do something similar, though not with anime -- I remember recording video game music onto audio cassettes...

Fortunately, I did so many years ago, and I've watched them both. I'd still love to own a commercial release, though.Heibi wrote:And if you really want subtitled versions of the uncut, unmolested, no added/changed dialog of Yamato you can always download series 1 and 2 from my torrents on nyaatorrents.
Now that I live in Japan, I don't think I will download any torrents at all. Not with the way things are here.

Yeah, they can track down and arrest uploaders of materials, but can't track down the Kuroko's Basketball threat letter writer. He/she has shut down many conventions over threats to kill people at the event.greg wrote:Fortunately, I did so many years ago, and I've watched them both. Late to the party, but yes -- totally agree. The dub which is now some 25 years old is still better than most you see done today.I'm a fan, but in my opinion Star Blazers was for its time a really well-done adaptation. The voice acting is great, they went through a lot of trouble to smooth over or re-engineer things like Japanese text and on-screen violence that in other shows would simply be cut, and they went to great lengths to preserve the spirit of the original - including the musical score.
