Nerima City, the home of anime

Post by kndy »

At Tokyo Anime Fair, there were booklets passed out by the Nerima City Office about Nerima City, the home of anime. And I was surprised to see how the city was the home of many anime titles, old and new. And how rich the history of animation is in the city and how the memories are preserved through yearly events. I scanned a few pages from the booklet, enjoy!

I hope you can add the city of Nerima to your destination when visiting Japan. You can find more info. in English at www.animation-nerima.jp/ but also by visiting the Nerima City Home Page at www.city.nerima.tokyo.jp.

I went to Nerima once before, it's a cute town, I'd really like to live there. Also, that's a really nice brochure! (I really hope they STILL have that sign up at Nerima Station, because now I feel I must stop by there just to see it)

Nerima is one of the places I want to visit whenever I get myself to Japan. If only because that's the city Ranma 1/2 takes place in. But it sounds like a lovely place to go! Especially with all that anime history there as well, amazing stuff!

Nerima was one of the places we wanted to go when we were in Japan (mostly for Toei), but my counterpart ended up with a horrible stomach virus in Tokyo. I joked we should go knock on Leiji Matsumoto's door, since apparently he lives somewhere right by the train station. We were supposed to visit the Tezuka Museum in Takarazuka as well, but same story as above. Here's hoping we can go back in a few years.

That is a great booklet and is doing an incredible job with its main purpose as I now REALLY want to spend more time in Nerima.
