Re: What are you Watching?
Tonight we watched the first three episodes of Rose of Versailles. Wow, this anime is fantastic so far. My wife is really enjoying it, too.

Well, you could always watch the Gunbuster vs Diebuster movie after you finish...it's on Hulu for free and it's a condensed version of both series in a movie, so you'd at least see the important parts.ryoran wrote:Oh good, I figured there was a better mech coming. My friend keeps recommending the sequel, but I'm not a huge fan of the over-the-top Gainax that looks like FLCL and up. So I don't know if I'd like it as much as this one.

I've heard that Diebuster is such a huge letdown. I saw some guy's review on YT who pointed out every single reason why Gunbuster was fantastic, and showed how its sequel totally wizzed it all down its leg. For me, this is another example of using my nerd powers of ignoring a sequel that just doesn't stack up to the original whatsoever.

I haven't seen it mostly because of that, too. I have been considering watching the GvD movie, though, like I mentioned to Ryoran...then if I don't like it I can just pretend it didn't happen, lol. I've been watching it streaming on Hulu Plus on our PS3....it's so addictive, like the most over-the-top shoujo soap opera ever. XD I really want to get the DVD sets when I have the cash.ryoran wrote:I know I would love Rose of Versailles, I need to pick it up.greg wrote:Tonight we watched the first three episodes of Rose of Versailles. Already stopped watching Gatchaman II. Most of the plots of the first 12 episodes were pretty bad. Can't figure how they got approval for this show back when. Saw an interview with one of the producers and he said at the time they were only going through the motions with the latter series as they had said all there was to say with the original. I see what he meant now...
On the other hand, new trailers are up for new US network shows for the fall. Going to have to check out Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And Almost Human...

Re: What are you Watching?
Hulu Plus recently added TV streaming for "Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine" so we watched the first 3 eps. Gotta say, I'm LOVING it. It's like Lupin III and Cowboy Bebop smooshed together to make one show. I'm glad it's coming out on DVD soon because I think I'll have to get it.

I decided to finally get the other Voltron sets since they are now cheaper and started watching the Air Team. About to switch gears and watch Tiger & Bunny vol. 2

Ha! Nice. Have you checked out the original Dairugger series? They cut out so much of it for American TV syndication. I had bought the very first Voltron DVD that was released way back when, but I could barely watch the full set of episodes. It's one of those shows that I am thankful it existed in my childhood, but I am better off just leaving it in my nostalgic memories and would rather watch the original source shows. It's the same way with Robotech.kndy wrote:I decided to finally get the other Voltron sets since they are now cheaper and started watching the Air Team.

Yeah, "Woman Called Fujiko Mine" came out just recently...I think it started last year? It's neat, it's a prequel series about how Fujiko met Lupin & the others. It's very cool so far, I definitely recommend it! Funimation has it streaming for free on regular Hulu, too.
