I suspect legacy from Usenet and Rec.Arts.Anime.TimEldred wrote:PS: Sure would be nice if everyone here used their real names. The only ones I can identify are Dave Merrill, Steve Harrison, and Mike Toole. Is everybody else AFRAID to self-identify?

You can click on the 'profile' button on the bottom left of a person's post and get their first name. Generally.
Re: S'me.
Yea, I like to know who I'm talking to as well, and I generally address the people on this board by first name. I find it difficult to have a serious discussion with someone when, instead of a personal name, I need to address my messages to a strange Internet handle. I wonder what would have happened if I'd requested that people use their real name as their account name... Probably not everyone would like that... Having people enter their real first name when registering and having them post introductions is probably a reasonable compromise...
And yea, I've been sneaking around cold-emailing people again...

Hiyas Tim!I remember you from Starblazers.com, and that amazing Youtube video where Leiji Matsumoto drew a picture of Maetel.
I go by Path in real life by pretty much everyone but parents and coworkers. My full first name is scarily unique and I don't want my job tracking me down on the web. They think me weird enough as it is.

Wow, the Tim Eldred! I certainly recognized your name, but it's been a long while, so I had to look up your name to remind myself of how important you are. Welcome to the forum! I'm Greg Bower, but I was more on FidoNet and AnimeNet than I was on UseNet (although I did participate more on rec.arts.anime.games).
