After finishing "Woman Called Fujiko Mine", I watched a bit of classic Lupin season one and...I had totally forgotten how annoying/bad the very first theme song was. XD;; https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=p ... tOnRPv2W4A

I'm SO glad it changes later.

KNIGHT! fame), produced in 2008 or 2009, is every bit as awful and stilted as the old Jim Terry dub of the TV series. Japanese names are retained, but there are some odd casting choices (the Chinese jet pilot dude is played by SF writer David Gerrold) and the scripts are terrible - our hero Sanshiro says "heck" every other line.

Still, it's that special, crazy, sketchy mid-70s Toei super robot animation, and it's pretty cheap. I'm having fun watching, and will probably grab the similar STARZINGER compilation that's coming out in August.
Thanks for reminding me about this! Did they release any other old school anime mecha series recently aside from Gaiking? I really want to watch this as it was one of my favorite Shogun Warriors toys (my favorite was Danguard Ace...) and Combatra.

I actually like it, mainly because of the "Punch the Monkey: the 30th Anniversary Lupin the 3rd Remixes" CD. They dress it up a bit and it's pretty awesome.

Last night we finished the first disc of Rose of Versailles. While watching that, it's easy to understand why the French citizens rose up and cut all their heads off. Such a bunch of snobby, petty do-nothings.

I just watched an obscure little 30 min OAV called "Elf 17", based on Atsushi Yamamoto's 8-volume manga series from 1985.

I like watching really small little OAVs like this, as long as they are entertaining, which it was. The late Chieko Honda played the main character, Ruu. :,c I liked the little sci-fi cameos ala Urusei Yatsura in the beginning. I'd love to read the manga but I can't find it anywhere.

We just finished watching the 2nd disc of Versailles tonight. This show is getting very good.

With the opening song, when it goes, "bara wa bara wa," I started singing "banana banana...." I told my daughter that the name of the show is Banana of Versailles. Yeah, I'm a dork. :geek:

Not anime but started watching the 6th and final season of this:

There apparently exists a photo of me age 3 dressed in full Paladin outfit in the old pictures or slides left behind by my parents. Haven't found it yet though...
