One of the most popular Japanese dramas, "Long Vacation" was a ratings hits in 1996 and still is among the favorites of j-drama fans to this day.
I actually created the fan page back in 1996 and the only site that I never changed and kept to its look from 1996...lol.. http://www.nt2099.com/LV/lv1.html
Wiki: Long Vacation (ロングバケーション, also known as ロンバケ) is a Japanese television drama series from Fuji Television, first shown in Japan from 15 April to 24 June 1996. Takuya Kimura and Tomoko Yamaguchi played the lead characters. The series enjoyed high ratings and was the earliest of a series of hit productions starring Kimura. It features music by Cagnet.
Wow, I didn't know Kimura was in that. I think it was in 1997 when my family and I had a junior high school student from Himeji come stay with us for a week or so. I took her to the local Japanese grocery store that stocked VHS tapes of shows copied from Japanese TV stations via satellite. She picked this out to introduce to me, so we watched the first episode together. There was a rather beautiful song that was featured in Long Vacation that was a hit in 1996. I forget the name of the song or who sang it, but I have it at home as part of a compliation album I bought long ago.
Yep! That's the one. The CD I bought back then was "Modern Tokyo Connection" which featured 14 hit songs by EMI Records, released in 1997. It's a nice, sentimental song.
