Project A-kon 2013
Nitro & I will be at A-kon working as staff (he'll be working with A-kon TV, I'll be in the Exhibition Hall). But if anyone else will be there, too, maybe we could meet up during downtime?

Are you still planning to pass out flyers for our little home here? http://forum.animepast.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=388

I'm going to try to! Our Printer broke, sadly, so I have to see if I can find some time before the con to go to one of the office stores around here & see if I can get some printed there. Very cool. Looking forward to hearing of what happens. Thanks for helping. Be sure to let me know what you did so I can give you some points. If you want reimbursement for printing costs, let me know.

Re: Project A-kon 2013
AnimeSennin, you'll be happy to hear that I now have a nice stack of full-color fliers for A-kon! I'll either see about being able to leave them at the info desk for people to take, or I'll pass them out myself at random intervals.

Re: Project A-kon 2013
Well, I was looking through the A-kon programing schedule for the weekend, and I was happy to see two panels that might interest people (if anyone besides Nitro & myself are going):
Friday, 12:45 pm: "The Greatest Anime You've Never Heard of". There's not a detailed description, but Helen McCarthy's one of the hosts so I assume it might be older/more obscure anime talk! (Located in Metropolitan Ballroom (Mezzanine), Panel 3)
Also Friday, 6:45 pm: "Battle for the Past: Pre Y2K Anime". THIS one, I'm hoping will be good. I'm gonna try to see if Nitro and I can possibly film it with his camcorder, if it turns out to be interesting. I'm also thinking this might be the perfect place to leave some fliers for the forum!!
(Located in Metropolitan Ballroom – Mezzanine, 2nd Floor)
There's not really a lot of panels that seem interesting to me this year, though Vertical is scheduled to have a panel on manga licensing (though I'm gonna double-check on that one, they said yesterday on Twitter they weren't doing any panels at A-kon, so I hope they didn't cancel it or something). After Wednesday, I'll only be able to check email from my phone so I'll try to keep everyone updated if anything cool happens.

Wow both of those panels sound great! I'd be awesome if you were able to record them. And the latter definitely sounds perfect to leave the flyers! Hope you're having a great time!usamimi wrote:Well, I was looking through the A-kon programing schedule for the weekend, and I was happy to see two panels that might interest people (if anyone besides Nitro & myself are going):

Re: Project A-kon 2013
Brief update on Akon from my phone!
The Y2k anime panel was kinda like a intro to a sampling of stuff from the 80s & 90s (I was happy to see "They were 11" in there, for example.) I was able to record everything but the intro, so hopefully I can upload that when I get home for you guys
I handed out fliers at the panel, left some at the info desk, and some in the dealers room for the forum. I even passed out some at the swap meet (where I met one of the staff heads from Otakon, who was really cool.) If the hotels FedEx store is open today I might try to make more copies to leave in various places.
Media Blasters is here, and they still had their "support what's left if the anime business!" Sign, but this time it was drawn on posterboard so it looked nicer. I bought a brand new copy of the complete Giant Robot from them for $20, and the guy I talked to was actually cool.
I got some good deals on some other stuff and at the swap meet too. Pics later
Anime Hell was a blast this year, I don't think I've laughed so hard in quite some time.
ok more later!
