Yuuuuuuuuup. Most people know it as "Oreimo" (in fact, I think that's what the official release name in the states was for it because they figured that was just easier for kids to say ;P).

Ah. In the same way, Kare Kano is actually Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou.

So we're on the 3rd DVD of the Gundam: 0083 box set and there is a sound issue I've noticed since the 2nd DVD that is not going away. The music track is too pronounced, and it overwhelms the dialogue. Sound effects are about average, somewhere in the middle. This sort of sound issue crap is what I've come to expect from English dubs, not the original Japanese track. This is about as bad as an old Streamline dub. I don't remember this issue from before. Maybe it's more pronounced on my TV since for some ridiculous design flaw, the speakers face the back of the TV instead of the front. If only I'd known that before buying it... Why would they do that?

"The Sea Prince and Fire Child/Legend of Sirius" this past weekend. This is a lot more arty and slow paced than I remembered. I'm not sure it's pacey enough for today's generation of viewers. It's probably slower in some ways than some of the slowest Ghibli pics too. It's certainly interesting enough narratively, but at times it takes long digressions into showing off the animation quality and imagery, which might get some viewers impatient. It's a beautiful film. I hope one day someone gets Sanrio's A Journey through Fairy Land onto DVD or BD in North America.

Sea Prince & Fire Child was one of my favorite videos to rent growing up, I think it had a lot to do with the animation...I didn't really care about the story much, I just thought it was beautiful. XD I got the DVD for Christmas (from Nitro, actually!) a few years ago and had a lot of fun re-watching it.

OH MAN, I would LOVE IT if Discotek brought out A Journey Through Fairyland! I posted a little about it on my Anime Nostalgia Tumblr a while back and was sad no one seemed to remember it. It hasn't even gotten a BD release in Japan, though, so I guess it wasn't that popular? It was a favorite of mine, too, I hope someday the DVD makes its way over here.

Completely in love with DD Hokuto no Ken, the current version. "SAY MY NAME!!" "no, I don't want to" These guys really know their HnK and make fun of all the right stuff and yet are respectful.

Yamato 2199 is racing to the grand climax and man, man, just what. I can't picture what they're going to do with the last 4 episodes. I know it has to end with Yamato getting back to Earth and saving it but how they get there, get to that point is a complete wonderful mystery.

That's one of my favorite parts about it, too. Everyone's been telling me to get the manga, as it expands on that even more, but I haven't gotten around to it yet (lack of funds at the moment).

Not sure if I want to get into the manga. I'm just not that into manga. I know, I'm a traitor to Glorious Nippon. Kinda thinking hard about the upcoming Figma figures but I suspect they're going to go as fast as the Cobra figma went off-sale.

That, by the way, is a sure sign of my interest in a thing. I start sniffing about for stuff to buy tied to a title.

My brother has been itching to watch Berserk with me, so I started it. Loving it so far.

We finished the last episode of Gundam 0083 tonight. I wonder what we'll start next? I guess we could move on to Zeta Gundam, but I've been meaning to rewatch Votoms again for awhile.

I've been kind of skeptical of starting Attack on Titan. I dunno, I always wait like a year after to watch new series, when the hype has died down a bit.

Attack on Titan is one of those series were people seem to either really love it or just outright don't like it. I mostly like it because out of all of the anime in the past couple of years, it's one of the most unique stories I've seen. And bonus--the style isn't the typical generic moe-blob style.

I also love that there are strong female characters in the series that aren't solely there as love interests for everyone to fawn over, or just an excuse to have a woman bounce around in skimpy clothes. Since they're all in the military, everyone wears the same uniforms, and they're not at all "revealing". While there are some female characters that are sometimes the episode's comic relief, there are other times when the same character will shine as a strong soldier. Mikasa, one of the strongest characters,is even drawn very realistically, with highly-defined ab muscles! You rarely see that in any anime or manga, and that really made me happy.

I know there's a ton of AoT fans foaming at the mouth out there, but I rarely get into that aspect of fandom. I just enjoy watching it for stuff like this. Along with the very detailed world-building, it's one of the more realistic scifi/fantasy anime titles I've seen in recent years. The creator definitely thought this one out, and I appreciate it.
