Yeah, I only saw the first DVD of Haruhi (rented it from Blockbuster) and I really, really liked it. I regret not getting the box set before the price jump.

(Checks) Ouch! I didn't realized it'd jumped up so high, too. (Now I feel lucky, I bought it at Hastings with a coupon for like $20 a couple years ago XD; ) If you bought the single DVDs it wouldn't be too expensive (I think the most expensive vol is like $11 used or something? And the rest are less than that...Still makes it cheaper than $80 for the whole collection.)

Haruhi is a big enough franchise to get license rescued by someone at some point in the next 5 years. The TV series was reasonably entertaining, but to me the movie is where it's really at.

Yeah, it definitely wouldn't surprise me if someone like Funimation picked it up. It's a consistent fan-favorite at conventions and online, so they'd at least be able to squeeze a little more money out of it with a re-release.

Yes, I would definitely get it if it were to be re-released.

I just watched the episode; and it is cute. A little bit of an ecchi, but I have seen, I mean own, worse. It was nice to see. It kind of reminds me of the NHK series. Loneliness is a social pathology that is hard to really talk about sometimes. Having loneliness put into an ecchi makes the problem not to be so bad. Particularly, after watching the female characters really viciously insult the other, you think to yourself maybe not having friends is not so bad after all.

Yes! I agree. I grew up being shy, so sometimes my mom, teachers, and others tried to force me to be friends with other lonely kids. But if loneliness is all you have in common, what sort of a relationship is that?

Haha, totally this.

My mom also kinda friendly-forcefully made me be friends with this girl at secondary school, because I didn't have a lot of friends at that point, but she was so damaging to be around because she had problems of her own, I literally told her to f--k off at the bus stop once. Life was more peaceful without.

I was COMPLETELY fine with no friends.

Regards Haganai, it just made me feel so very uncomfortable. The force feeding of the underage nun-character with the milk bottle made me want to vomit. You just *know* that was put in for a certain demographic to fap to. Jeez.

If the series just consisted of the first and last episodes it would be totally fine :(
