Strange Cinema's Collection

Post by phubans »

Hey guys, it's been a while since I posted here but I haven't forgotten about this place, I've just been a little busy lately. I think I might have mentioned before that sometimes I like to stream some stuff from my collection to watch with friends on a channel I call Strange Cinema. I show almost exclusively vintage (80s and 90s) anime that's mostly horror, seinen, and cyberpunk (with a few exceptions). Lately I decided to make a list of my digital collection, which I've also included other information with that can be found here.

I hope you guys find it to be a useful resource for getting some good recommendations as well maybe finding out about some titles you might have not known about. Please let me know if you think there's anything you think would fit in with this collection, as I'm always interested in expanding it :) And if you feel like stopping by to watch some of this stuff, try visiting my stream around 10 PM Pacific time, which is usually when I start streaming every night. I'll be starting it up in a half an hour from now tonight.

I don't like to advertise my stream too much because I'm not sure if it's legal to broadcast some of this material without a license, but I don't get any money from it and there's no charge to watch... I just enjoy sharing the stuff I love with people, so I thought I'd invite you guys, too :)

Thanks for sharing! 10PM Pacific... that's probably about 2pm my time, so maybe on a Saturday I could catch this show of yours.

Neat. You have some stuff on your list I haven't seen before. I notice you're planning on also doing some live action cultish-films too. I might go to your facebook site sometime and request some. :)

Hey guys, thanks for checking it out! So now the biggest question on my mind is - does anyone have anything to add to this list or have I truly reached the end of vintage horror and supernatural seinen anime? I often wonder how many super rare titles came out in Japan that aren't even known to the west, even by fan translators, or if that's even a possibility. I'd be interested in finding more.

The ones that strike me as very rare are the ones that don't have English titles or appear to be ripped directly from VHS with hard-baked subs. These would include: Roots Search, Hell Target, Demon Hunter Makaryuudo, Hengen Taima Yakou Karura Mau, Digital Devil Monogatari Megami Tensei, Crystal Triangle, Maryuu Senki, Jigokudou Reikai Tsuushin, and The Curse of Kazuo Umezu. Those are probably the most rare titles in my collection so far, but I'm hoping to find more!

Hello again, I thought I'd invite you all to this event I'm having on my stream. As many of you know, it's the 30th anniversary for Fist of the North Star so I'm celebrating by streaming the entire series (109 episodes) starting tonight at 8 PM PST (in about 40 minutes - sorry for the short notice). I'll be streaming about 8 episodes per night, from 8 PM PST to 12 midnight, at which rate should take almost 2 weeks to complete the entire series. Feel free to drop in during this 4 hour block to enjoy this marathon with us! :)
