"Adventures on Rainbow Pond" Harmony Gold dub

Post by ForzaBot »

Hi Everyone! For my first post Id like to seek out some information in regards to the Harmony Gold English language dub of Kerokko Demetan, titled 'Adventures on Rainbow Pond'
I know two films were released on VHS which were random episodes strung together to form a feature length film. 26 of the 39 episodes were dubbed by Harmony Gold for Television syndication, however the show was not picked up by any networks in the US.
Supposedly it was broadcast in Spanish speaking countries, Germany, and possibly the Middle Eastern countries. I say supposedly because I have not been able to find anything other than clips of the compilation films.

Have any of the members here ever seen the actual syndicated episodes of Rainbow Pond, in any language?

Any information in regards to this rare Harmony Gold series would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

As a matter of fact, I may have a small amount of information on this. There was a site dedicated to unreleased Harmony Gold dubs, years ago, that had a few QuickTime clips of Harmony Gold's attempted Dr. Slump dub up, and a few of Kerokko Demetan. It had clips of alternate Spanish dubs as well (I know Dr. Slump was released in Spanish for a full series run too). Here's an example of the unreleased Dr. Slump dub - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6KkKHjgrCg I will see if I can find a url for it to use with the Wayback Machine, the main issue being I forgot the name so tracking it down might be tough. Edit: Just googling, I already found that clip I saw of Kerokko Demetan (in Spanish) years ago on Youtube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dy5z2php--s Also, here is one from the movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXdk_dnUit8

2nd edit; Just digging some more, the movie was re-released on DVD as "The Brave Frog". http://www.amazon.com/Brave-Frog/dp/B00 ... brave+frog Going for $60, though.

I don't know about the States, but I've seen "The Brave Frog" on VHS in the thrifts up here from time to time. And yeah, I did buy it, but not for no $60!

I have never seen it under the title "Adventures On Rainbow Pond", however.

Thanks for the information. Im aware of the VHS and DVd releases titled "The Brave Frog" however information on the actual "Rainbow Pond" 26 episode series is quite sparse. It was even featured on Harmony Golds website for a few years as a series up for licensing...

Yes, I know this thread has been dormant for a year, but I feel like I should comment - yes, this dub does exist and I have information on it.

The dub was produced in 1989, a few years after the Brave Frog version. It was syndicated by Harmony Gold along with a dub of Temple the Balloonist called Sabrina's Journey.

The voice cast for the dub was

Dave Mallow as Jonathan Demetan
Julie Maddalena as the love interest Ranatan
Michael McConnohie as the villain Lord Gyata
Doug Stone as the narrator

Doug Stone and Dave Mallow adapted the show and did the voice direction. All that, by the way, is per Dave Mallow himself.

The characters' names weren't the same as the Brave Frog version - for example, Ranatan was redubbed Hillary Hopper her father Lord Gyata was called Maxwell or Big Max . Demetan was still Jonathan, though.

I've never found any evidence it aired in the English speaking-world, but this version was shown in Germany, Latin America, Portugal and the Middle East apparently in English . All 39 episodes were dubbed.

Here's a clip of the opening in Portuguese
