On Sunday, user Net-Lex came over and we played some Otoboke Ninja Colosseum for the Super Famicom. We recorded the session and can be seen here:

Been playing Borderlands 2 on my PC for the past several months. When you think it's coming to the end of the game, BLAM! New area to explore. I haven't bought any DLCs yet as I'm still having a blast playing the base game. Might get this for a friend if it goes on sale...

Wow, I forgot how slow moving the SNES/SFamicom can be sometimes. The Senshi move like molasses here.greg wrote:Net Lex (Alex) and I played Sailor Moon for the Super Famicom. The gaming session can be viewed here:

Anyway, I got a copy of the Japanese DC Last Blade 2, so I've been playing that. Interestingly, the Japanese and US versions can share the same save data. So I can beat the game using the Japanese disc and view an ending in english by popping in the US disc after I save my results. That said, I plan to sell my US version once I've unlocked most or all the endings.
After the Neo Geo, the DC Japanese version is still the next best version of Last Blade 2 to get. The Virtual Console Last Blades are censored. No blood.

Really? The pacing for the Sailor Moon game seems on par with a typical Final Fight clone. I forgot to try double tapping to see if they run.
That's cool about Last Blade 2. I have the JP version. Some of the KOF games had the option to toggle between English and Japanese, but I guess this one doesn't, huh?

Yeah, the title screen menu is in english, but the after-battle comments and story sequences are in Japanese.
I think the Capcom beat'em ups fare the best on the SNES, but there are still some compromises in speed and onscreen action I find. I still think of it as more of an RPG console.

Agreed. Actually, the first Final Fight game on the SNES was a disappointment. Only two characters were selectable: Haggar and Cody. Then Final Fight Guy came out to include the third character, however Cody got dropped. <Facepalm.gif> The better home port of Final Fight was on the Mega CD. All three characters can be played.
Well, tonight my friend from America will be coming to stay the weekend! We will be hitting all the Kanteidan and Otakara locations (the cool otaku paradise shops) strewn about along the coastline here in Shizuoka-ken, and maybe even make it up to Kofu in Yamanashi-ken north of Mt. Fuji for the Hard off and Mandai stores there.

Re: What are you Playing?
Final Fight for the SNES came out way too early IMO. If they had released it when SNES games were featuring more megs, they could have gotten it done. I mean, King of Dragons and Knights of the Round Table featured all the characters from the arcade and two player action on the SNES, so I don't see why they couldn't have done the same with Final Fight.greg wrote:Agreed. No idea what happened with Final Fight Guy though. By then they should have been able to include all 3 characters and 2 player action. Guess Capcom was being asses and didn't want to cut into original Final Fight's sales?
Which is why Streets of Rage 2 on the Mega Drive will probably always be considered the best 16 bit brawler in the Final Fight style.

While I do love Streets of Rage 2, I think that Final Fight CD for the Sega CD/Mega-CD gives it some pretty tough competition.llj wrote:Which is why Streets of Rage 2 on the Mega Drive will probably always be considered the best 16 bit brawler in the Final Fight style.
Re: What are you Playing?
Final Fight is a great brawler overall. But I still like Streets of Rage 2 better. I prefer the soundtrack and the characters there.
