Anime/Manga stuff you tossed out, but now wish you hadn't

The roughly mid-90's and earlier (generally pre-Toonami, pre-anime boom) era of anime & manga fandom: early cons, clubs, tape trading, Nth Generation VHS fansubs, old magazines & fanzines, fandubs, ancient merchandise, rec.arts.anime, and more!

There's not a lot of rare manga in Japan. The occasional graphic book, yes, but not manga.

Having to sell my Gall Force and Bubblegum Crisis videotapes and DVDs (and LDs too in BC's case), among many, many, many other things, although those two still sting me. I'm currently trying to get the DVDs from Amazon, and to get the new Blu Ray release for BC from AnimEigo, but still, it's still a pain, especially since importing anime from the US seems so difficult nowadays.

Hey Priss,
If you want to reclaim the LDs for (original) BGC (including the concert ones I think, would need to confirm), let me know. I have them and would not be averse to parting with them. Nothing against them, I love BGC, but they were bequeathed to me and I'd like for a true fan to have them since I rarely mess with my LD player.

Oh God, I would totally love to have the LDs back again. The artwork for them alone are worth it, not to mention LDs look great in TVs.

I'm all in.

Send me a message of where you live and I'll see what shipping would run. Lemme also confirm what all I have.

Well, we had some really nasty rain here the last few days, and part of our garage flooded...and I think one of the boxes that got damaged beyond repair might've been one that I (STUPIDLY) hadn't unpacked from my last move that had some old Newtype/Animage/Animedia/etc furoku posters in it. -__- I wasn't able to check the boxes so I don't know for 100% certainty, BUT I looked around and couldn't find them in the boxes that DID make it ok, so...there's a pretty high chance they're gone forever. *sighs* Kinda my fault, since I was lazy and just kept thinking "Oh, they're fine, I'll sort them out later." But still, I'm a bit bummed out about it.

:( Sorry to hear that usamimi! I think we've all had similar situations where things have been ruined, and it is AWFUL every single time.

This was actually not too long ago, probably 3 years ago, RIGHT before I started getting back into anime again. I bought Urusei Yatsura 6th Movie: Always my Darling, thinking it was Final Chapter (I was SO out of anime at that time, I bought it on a whim without thinking much about it) and watched it and was actually disappointed. I was not in my right mind at the time, and I ended up selling it at a Half Price Books because I didn't care.

Now 3 years later, I want the movie again. Not only does it have one of my favorite character designers (Kumiko Takahashi) but I want to actually collect all the UY stuff. Man it's amazing what only a few years can do to change you.

There is some manga that I really wish I had kept. There was also some independent stuff that I wish I kept. All the DVD and VHS stuff is really easy to find. It is always the manga trades that are more of a problem.

I wish I had kept my old Newtype model catalogs. Not the magazine, but the plastic model store that was in California in the 90's.

Here's an ad for their store from Animag: http://i.imgur.com/aEXAxqu.jpg
