The Old School Otaku Lounge

It’s worth at least knowing about. Even back in the 90s i was one of the few posters who liked it but expressed a tempered enjoyment of it online. It’s popular because it’s very accessible to viewers outside Japan. And there’s the “this anime doesn’t make me feel nerdy for watching it” factor for casuals, which is a shallow but very real sentiment for many people.

I was much more enthusiastic about Evangelion, so i’m not one of those who dunk on things for being popular either
