Heh... I don't actually do streaming, so I don't know.

I mainly started using online rentals to catch up with older and/or OOP titles, and I figure that those aren't very likely to be available on the streaming side of things anyway. I use one place, GreenCine, that hasn't kept up very well with buying new releases of anime the last few years, but they still have a pretty good back-catalogue of DVD's from even the earlier days of anime-on-dvd releases that have gone seriously OOP (Video Girl Ai, KOR, etc.).

It varies greatly depending on my mood. Like recently I binged on Yawara episodes because I found like 40 more eps in one go. But I have to split my time with Old movies and other TV shows so Anime has to wait its turn in the rotation like everything else. Before I started working again, I watched anime most of the day when I wasn't cleaning or out Shopping or with friends. But now I find it hard to squeeze all my hobbies in.

I have binged a bit lately on weekends. The weather hasn't been great in my city lately so I had the excuse to stay in. I just finished xxxHolic, Slayers season 1, K-On season 1, and 3 weeks prior, I spent an entire day watching Bamboo Blade, Magic Knight Rayearth, and One Piece.

Oh, I also watched Space Adventure Cobra on a Friday night. (I love watching Dezaki stuff at night, especially Golgo 13)

Like Jen, I don't really stream. My computer and internet connection isn't always great, and a lot of the streams don't look good when blown up and watched full screen. Even the 480p streamed stuff seems to suffer in comparison to watching a good ol' DVD. And I generally don't like watching little boxes on a screen.

I generally go in fits and spurts. I didn't watch much of anything during the summer.

Probably about an hour a week when I am catching up with whatever series I am currently watching. About once or twice a month I get together with some other anime loving friends for a couple of hours of anime. On occasion I'll do DVD marathon.
I just picked up the remastered Bubblegum Crisis set so I'll probably burn through those this weekend.

Let us know if there is any audio synch issues with your DVDs.

Negative on the audio sync issues; all of the DVDs seemed to work fine. Also, Bubblegum Crisis is awesome - really wish there had been more made and no, BBC 2040 doesn't count.

I'm guessing it was Animeigo's first BGC DVD releases that had problems. The remastered version is the best it's going to get on DVD.

I'm still holding out for a BD from Animeigo. So I'll just wait another year before I give up on them and just get the remastered DVD set.

BGC is an interesting series. I wouldn't say that I was engaged by the characters and story, but the show is just dripping style, atmosphere and attitude. You could argue it's sort of style over substance, but damn, WHAT STYLE. It was a gathering of some of the best young animators of the 80s, many of whom would go on to be very influential in the 90s.

BGC2040's biggest sin was that it was so bland compared to the original. It's not that 2040 is a bad show--in fact, one could argue that it's better scripted in some ways. But it has bland character designs, bland world design, bland mecha designs, bland color design. The animation, music and design work in the original leaps out at you. 2040 looks and feels like a run of the mill cyberpunk anime. Oh well, at least the opening theme is cool.

Yes, the original BGC is so much heavier with atmosphere. It is much darker and has better color saturation. The character designs for the 2040 show are just so dull and look like generic "90s Pioneer anime" style. Ender, thanks for letting us know about the sync being fine. I have a cheap-o Bugs Bunny DVD I bought for my daughter and it has some audio sync issues that are rather distracting, so I know what that's like.
