I always wondered what Jojhi Manabe was up to now...guess that's why I didn't know. I don't really follow much ero-artist stuff. Kind of a drag, I always thought his work was pretty cool.

Studio Katsudon was his doujin circle before he did his non-pornographic manga. So there's a lot of hentai doujinshi out there that he did before and in between his more well known titles. He even did some Ranma 1/2 H-doujin. He's said in an interview before that he's not exclusively into pornographic manga, it's just something he does on the side of his other works. I haven't seen anything new from him, but I guess the last time he did a manga released to the public was around 2006. He might be exclusively doujinshi artist now...it wouldn't surprise me considering the current manga market probably wouldn't be much into his work anymore. Last latest art I saw from him looked the same as his older work (which I like) but I know others aren't into that style anymore.

I will say that if there was one series I am proud that I have complete are:

20th Century Boys by Naoki Urasawa
Pluto: Urasawa x Tezuka

I actually enjoy "Bakuman" and probably will need to buy back issues of "Slam Dunk" as I enjoyed that one as well.

Man, anything Naoki Urasawa does is usually awesome. It makes me sad that so much of his stuff in America never got fully released. (Or is now crazy-expensive, thanks to it going out of print so fast, in the cast of Monster). I'd love to get more of his stuff in Japanese, too.

I avoid porn myself also. I really enjoyed "Dance till Tomorrow" and I want to collect it. I do not remember if it was an ecchi or a hentai, but I really remember the story line was really good. I do not know if I am going to get the series again or not. I can tolerate ecchi but hentai is a on that "other" level. We all have seen how deep the rabbit hole goes; and, with this new trend toward Lollicon type of anime it is going to new lows. Revolutionary Girl Utena creaton Ikuhara just put out a new series. It is a yuri and I view the scans of the first episode online. I do not believe I will be supporting his new project. Of course, I read the entire chapter. Yet, I do not want to get a taste for it. One thing seems to lead to another. You know what I mean? Anyway judge for yourselves. Here is the link.

Of the more normal stuff. I would like to get all of my Maison Ikkoku replaced because I managed to sell my entire stock of manga. I also was fond of the Budda Series and Urusei Yatsura. There is some independent stuff I would like to get. I am a Ted Rall fan and I like Adrianne Tommie and Dan Clowes. I would not mind getting the Ah My Goddess manga.

Something this discussion reminded me of, I am a huge fan of the Hellsing manga (wasn't too thrilled with the ending, though). Anyway, I was surprised to learn back in the day that it was itself a spin off of a hentai one shot, and that Kouta Hirano did some hentai doujin to stay afloat in his early career. I avoid it as well, but I guess that there are some talented artists who get forced into it through financial necessity (not unlike some downtrodden American actors doing actual porn, ironically).
