Yeah, I remember the 90s OAV actually being fairly good? I wouldn't mind watching it again.

OK, I quit.

I see some 'Panty and Stocking' going on, a good chunk of FLCL, maybe some Gurran Laagan and some fairly horrid CGI that makes the last episode of Heat Guy J look astonishing.

Even the OP theme is lame. How can that be? Yet it is.

Yeah, what's the meme? DO NOT WANT.

I got about half way through the vid you had the link for. Boring and repetitious.

So, it's not the UN but some mysterious alien that protects the Earth? For hundreds of years yet. And based out of Japan the whole time, no doubt, even when Japan was under military rule or during the time of the Shoguns? Must be fun running a worldwide operation that way. I *might* tune in the first episode but maybe not. Maybe we are just too old to watch this sorta thing. But then again, I watched Avatar and legend of Korra and Young Justice and enjoyed them immensely. I just don't know...

I think they call something like this a Drive-By Cash In.

The problem is that it just isn't Gatchaman.
This is exactly how I feel about it. :/

Welp, after watching that opening, I'm kind of annoyed...because this looks like it would be something I would possibly watch (at least to see if it was any good), but it definitely does NOT feel like a Gatchaman series at all. It looks like it could be any random, new-agey mech revival series. It seems like the Gatchaman name was totally just....tagged on there, or that they wanted to make it SO much like how newer anime looks and feels now that it basically lost anything remotely Gatchaman-like. :/ This makes it difficult for me to want to watch it, even if it looks interesting, because that stupid feeling is probably going to annoy me the whole time. Ugh.

All of this and more.

Just watched the first episode. Clearly it's not designed for me.

Know what the most funny thing to me about this is, based on that first episode?

SOMEBODY on the staff really, really, REALLY likes Moleskine-style journal/memo books.

See?

I'm not kidding at all.

I'm really glad I missed this thread until now.
Heresey... my lord...

It really may redefine "how to take a dump on a classic" better than the (hopefully never done) white people doing Akira.

Being a brave soul, I've watched a couple more episodes.

OK, there's the bones of interesting stuff going on, maybe it's all just 'the way anime is done now' but I'm still finding it off-putting and really, there is no logical reason for this to have the name Gatchaman. Really.

I booted my PS3 for the first time in months, yesterday. Saw this available (for like 700 yen?) to download, but of course, passed. It just looks like everything Gatchamn isn't.
