Whoa, that's awesome!

Back when I lived in WA, I found a Doraemon wallet and several Doraemon candy tins at my local Goodwill. (I think Ryoran found a Doraemon bag at one of hers, too, iirc?) I ended up selling the wallet and giving the tins to a friend, but I still thought it was neat that Doraemon's reach is pretty far!

First English trailer is online now--looks like Viz Media is the one Disney's working with to produce and/or distribute the series: http://animenostalgia.tumblr.com/post/8 ... ite-now-up

Mona Marshall is the English voice of Doraemon, you might recognize her as one of the actresses from South Park.

Doesn't look to be all that bad of an adaptation to me. I mean, I probably won't watch it but that's mostly from just not being that into Doraemon.

Yeah! I might check out the first ep just out of curiosity, but really, it IS a kid's show, so...not expecting anything riveting.

According to Viz, Doraemon will be starting this Monday, for anyone that's curious...

Yep, it's my current purse. I get compliments on it all the time, and people actually know what Doraemon is! It always shocks me! Most of the time it's people about my age, and non-Japanese. I do get some Japanese people here who compliment it though, one lady talked to me about it, and I informed her it was showing it English on tv, and she was pretty excited about it because her kids could watch it.

The show started today on Disney XD! I don't have Disney XD so I couldn't even see it if I wanted to, but I heard from a couple people that for a kid's show it was just fine. :) Apparently it'll be on every day this week, if anyone's that curious.

I am actually perversely interested in it, at least just one episode to see if it is as bad as I expect. With Disney reanimating yen into dollars and all that, that just goes against my principals of animation. Dicking around with stuff like that gets on my nerves more than blatant censorship. At least with censorship, there will be some sort of moral code, whether or not one agrees with it. But with just screwing around with stuff, like Macek removing the extra moon from the night skies in Southern Cross, that is annoying.

It's weird, though, because the companies that own Doraemon mandated some of the changes themselves? So not all the changes that were made were ones that Disney are even responsible for. It's hard to know who did what, since there's at least 3 different companies/studios involved. :?
