WInter Soldier came out last week in Japan and I loved it as well. Reminded me a lot of Metal Gear Solid.

The action was creative and original. It was a better representation of Cap's abilities. Bucky/Winter Soldier is one of the best comic to real life transitions I have ever seen other than The Joker in both the 89 movie and in The Dark Knight.

At this point, my favorite comic book movies are

1. The Crow
2. Ninja Turtles 1990
3. Snowpiercer
4. The Avengers
5. The Dark Knight
6. Dredd
7. Superman 1978
8. The Amazing Spider-Man
9. Captain America The Winter Soldier
10. Iron Man

Amazing Spider-Man 2 getting rave reviews out of Europe where it had been released. Looking forward to the new TMNT movie as well as How to Train Your Dragon 2. A new Crow film is also in the works. The new summer film season has already started it seems...

I have been watching a lot of documentaries about the ocean. Plus, I have been watching a lot of the Twilight Zone lately. It is a little odd, but I am always into retro stuff.

I'm really into collecting older/art films, as well as classic tv, Yusaku. If you ever want a good reference on what the definitive version of a classic movie is, the website http://www.dvdbeaver.com is very good. I just picked up the Criterion BD of Persona based on their review: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/Reviews/persona.htm Also, if you're into the Twilight Zone, you should definitely check out Kolchak: The Night Stalker, a TV series that's in a similar vein. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kolchak:_The_Night_Stalker It was based on two movies, The Night Stalker and The Night Strangler, and was an inspiration for The X-Files and Twin Peaks, along with being David Chase's first TV work. You can pick up the TV series for about $25 in a dvd set, and the movie DVDs go sub-$10 on Amazon.

Also, I am anxiously awaiting the forthcoming Twin Peaks BD boxet that will FINALLY have a proper version of Fire Walk With Me. http://welcometotwinpeaks.com/news/twin-peaks-blu-ray

I don't see any mention of the new live-action Patlabor series, "The Next Generation" here...
It's had theatrical screenings in the big cities, and the first episode was broadcast on SkyPerfecTV's "Star Channel 1" (where I've just watched it).

Anybody else see it?

Unfortunately, I live in the middle of nowhere (Appalachian region of Ohio to be exact), so I'm waiting for the DVD/BD release. I'm really excited about it, though, whenever it does come out.

Crap! I forgot to buy the advance discount ticket at the convenience store. I really want to see this movie! The first Captain America movie was alright, I guess, but it seemed like they must've been thinking, "Well, Avengers is coming out, so we need to get this movie out of the way in order to introduce the character before Avengers comes along." The movie felt like just a setup for Avengers. So did Thor, but that movie stood better on its own, I think.

Hey, another expat living in Japan! No, I've seen the commercials for Patlabor, but I think it's on the Starz Channel, isn't it? So far, I've been completely unclear as to how I am able to see this movie. (Series?)

I really liked the first movie, I think it had a great tone and did a really good job of introducing the character. I'm not sure how you'll feel about Cap2. A promo on TV here after the "Agents of SHIELD" TV show flat out said that the Cap movie starts the build up for Avengers 2, so that may or may not be an issue for you. My main issue with it is it doesn't feel like a Captain America movie (to me). It's really more of a SHIELD movie.
