Yeah, I agree. I don't mind as long as it still gets released and isn't like...horrible quality.

Discotek should hire a PR/Social Media intern or something. Someone who'll post all their crap everywhere and work on their twitter and facebook for them. (Intern being the key word...then they wouldn't have to pay em, lol.)

Edit: Oh, looks like Maiden Japan released a statement on why they won't include a dub with New Dominion Tank Police: http://www.fandompost.com/2013/06/14/ma ... dub-issue/

OK. I may well call shenanigans on this, but eh. Just a rewording of the recently common "the Japanese won't let us!!" excuse.

They say the music and effects tracks are no longer available? Well, gee, did anyone think of contacting Manga Ent. and asking if they happen to have them laying around? I mean, it's not like they're several file boxes full of optical audio or even massive 1 inch magnetic tape reels, they're probably all stored on a external hard drive sitting on a shelf.

Not that it's a concern to me. I'd watch the Japanese with subs, dubs generally don't interest me. :)

Well, um, the thread and link I was reading was from MARCH, so...

See, in normal retail, video solicitations are generally 2 months ahead of the street date. So if these are supposed to be out in August the solicitations should have hit Amazon's buyers back in May.

Even saying that, Right Stuf should have the pre-order up now, and they don't.

so, I stand by my comments. :)
The announcement in March was more of a tentative estimate. On the main page, the March posting said Cutey Honey and Harlock "should be" coming out in August. They do posts like these all the time, but they're just ballpark estimates. There were no specific dates in that post. When they announce something official, they will give you an exact date month/day/year, not a "which month" estimate. The official release date wasn't stamped into stone until very recently. In fact, they haven't even put the official release dates for them on their Facebook page yet; I found from a reliable online news source that August 27 is the official date for Captain Harlock just earlier this week. But until they put an actual month/day/year on their Facebook page, it would be better to assume that there is no official release date yet.

I know people here are really itching to get their hands on Captain Harlock and Cutey honey and are getting somewhat panicky at this seemingly long delay, but this is really not unusual for them. Lovely Complex was acquired by Discotek over a year ago (April 2012) and it took until February of this year before a street date was announced. Fist of the North Star also took a long time to come out after it was licensed.

Preorder for Captain Harlock on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DELKA2U

Preorder for live-action Yatterman: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DELKA4I

Both are dated to be released Aug 27th.

Well, smarty pants, it wasn't there when I posted! So bleah! :)

And it looks rather rushed. Note the manufacturer data. Usually Discotek is listed under their parent, Eastern Star.

(do a search on Eastern Star. You'll get thousands of hits linking to Shriner sites. :) )

Welp, now I've got to choose between Harlock and Godzilla.

I note that Cutie Honey doesn't seem to have made the cut for release yet.

Hey, didn't they say they had picked up Tekkaman Blade II from Urban Vision? If they put the 'episode zero' pre-release promo video on that I'll have to double dip.

oh, sorry, I meant to say that they just went up. XD;;
I don't remember hearing about Tekkaman Blade II but that would be cool if they got it, that's one I still don't have.

Amazon says that the Yatterman live-action will be released by "Wea-Des Moines Video," not Eastern Star/Discotek. I thought it was going to be released by Eastern Star?

See my comment above. As in it may well be someone keyed the wrong data in a field.

I *suspect* Wea-Des Moines Video is the company who handles replication and fulfillment for Discotek. Like if anyone remembers old, old solicitations, Tapeworm used to handle the production for Voyager Entertainment Inc on Star Blazers. So you'd see 'Tapeworm' as the vendor.

Ah, I must've either missed the announcement or forgotten.

I agree with Steve, someone probably just typed it in wrong. I've seen that happen with smaller releases (or just anime in general) on Amazon. :p
