No prob! I think it's awesome news, I made a post about it on The Anime Nostalgia tumblr to get the word out. Anime Sol's PR department seems to be practically non-existent, so I try to help spread the word.greg wrote:YAY! Thank you!

I'd love to contribute and import the DVD, however as I am outside the US it doesn't allow me to do so! I find that weird, we're a global market these days. I'm guessing it's got something to do with territory licensing. Either way I was pretty sad I couldn't help just because of where my ISP lives.

Yeah, it's due to licensing issues...contractual red-tape, basically. You could always con--I mean, ask--a friend to donate something for you, though. But no worries--like I posted before, after I asked about it on Twitter, they said any DVD set that gets funded will be available retail. And Rightstuf will gladly ship internationally, so if you absolutely can't fund something, as long as it gets completely funded you'll still be able to get it eventually.

Ah thanks! Great to know!
Re: Anime Sols now open!
My main concern is for some of the longer series. Since these are proposed 13 episode DVD blocks, it wouldn't do much good if they are only able to get funding for one or two box sets for those 50 episode series and then stop.
I really want that Oniisama E on DVD, though. I must have everything Osamu Dezaki directed, and Dezaki and Ikeda go together like peanut butter and jelly.

Yeah, I'm kinda concerned about that, too. It makes me wonder if they're hoping that pressure to keep a series going until it's completed will make more fans donate?
I was really excited to hear about Oniisama E, too. I'm amazed it already seems to be doing VERY well!

Re: Anime Sols now open!
They just announced they've added Magical Idol Pastel Yumi to their line-up!
I'm really excited about this, because back in the VHS Days, someone sent me a tape that had some random op/ends from untranslated stuff, and Pastel Yumi was on there...I thought it looked so cute, but no one was interested in fansubbing it (plus it was old, making it harder to find copies of to translate from). So I never got to really see any. XD

Man, the Pierrot majokko show I want the most is Magical Emi. I hope they make it to that one.
I just about broke the sound barrier pre-ordering BROTHER, DEAR BROTHER. Over the past few years, I've come to realize that Mr Dezaki is probably my favorite anime director of all time-- I'll watch anything from him!

Re: Anime Sols now open!
I was actually really surprised about Pastel Yumi--I thought FOR SURE that Magical Emi would be the next one after Creamy Mami.
BUT, like I said, I'm excited about Yumi because that's a title I never expected to see EVER get picked up. I've seen some of Magical Emi because like Mami, it was popular in France, Spain, and Italy as well. (Thus easier to find episodes.) I watched the first episode last night and I really enjoyed it! The animation style is really cute (and good quality for an 80s mahou shoujo title), music seemed ok, and the plot is something I TOTALLY would've eaten up if I watched this in the height of my Sailor Moon obsession back in the day (she DRAWS stuff and it comes to life? cute, blob-ish looking cat fairy sidekicks? flowers everywhere?! I'M IN!) XD Also the fact that it's only like 26 eps means only 2 box sets, which'll make it easier on the wallet, at least.
I have so many friends that were SCREAMING when they heard about Oniisama E. Literally no one I knew ever expected that to get a DVD release, like, ever. That one's such a fan-favorite, I'm not too worried about it getting funded.
Dezaki has done some great work. I'd love to see more, I think the only things I've seen are Rose of Versailles, Oniisama E, some of Astro Boy, Lupin....(checks) HOLY CRAP, he did RAINBOW BRITE?! XD Well, I saw that, too...
Oh, he did Aim for the Ace! I've always wanted to see that one.
