oh, LORDY, me, too. I missed out on getting the official Animeigo box set because I couldn't afford it at the time...I was lucky enough to find a bootleg box set of their translation, though before they mysteriously vanished from ebay and the internet (guess they weren't selling well?). I've always hated the fact that I don't have an official one, and hope someday it finally gets rescued. (I mean, c'mon, Madoka is the original Tsundere! You'd think people'd be into that, right? lol.)

I believe Viz also has locked sub issues on most of their BDs. That usually can't be helped due to Japanese demands, but it's something companies are trying to bypass all the same. I know Sentai is trying to make up for some of their past issues on BD regarding the 1080i thing, but Blu-ray has been annoying for anime fans because of the shared region thing.

I can't see Viz re-dubbing Ranma 1/2--it costs too much money to do all 161 episodes again, so I'm fairly confident it's gonna be the old dub on these BD releases.

My jaw would drop if someone released Maison Ikkoku on BD here. I know Viz nearly didn't finish it, so it was never a huge seller for them. I'm missing about 2 box sets from the middle of the series, so I never really did see the storyline where Godai had that high school girl chasing him. I definitely would want to fill that section in at some point.

That's what I was thinking...I guess a part of me wondered, considering they said they were going to put it up on Neon Alley and their VizAnime website, if fans would get confused once main character's voices started changing. I did also think the same thing you did, though, in that they'd probably be too cheap to re-do it...Hopefully that's the conclusion they'll come to.

Ah, that's something I forgot about, too--hard subs. It is problematic, hopefully it's something they can work around...

I never got the chance to buy the MI DVD sets because literally NO ONE in my area carried them, and I didn't really want to pay for shipping at the time. I've always regretted that. (Thankfully, I have all of the re-released manga, at least!)

It was actually a bit dragged out and annoying, TBH. I thought it got a little long-winded there.

On the topic of MI released on BD... what type of work is involved in ripping a BD, editing the subtitles file, and re-authoring it? I've not kept up w/ closed captioning on recent Japanese releases (they were abysmal back when I watched anime) but that would be one way. The other is to just stick one in there assuming it's absent. I would assume enabling said subtitles might be tricky on some players, as it would be a hack, technically.

Wow, looks like the first 4 seasons of Digimon are getting a huge box set re-release in English and in Japanese: http://www.amazon.com/Digimon-Collectio ... ds=Digimon

I was never a huge Digimon fan (my ex loved it, for some reason), but I know some people on the internet will be happy. It's 32 discs and nearly $200, though! Good luck trying to sell it to little kids, lol.

Well, the other Digimon single season box sets are already out in English so I'm pretty sure any little kids interested in Digimon will buy those.

This boxset is most likely for the fans who grew up with it, like myself. If you actually delved a bit into Digimon, there were some pretty mature themes in the show, something that Pokemon never really had. It was only slightly censored in the English version. Yes it was a kid's show, but I always found it to be highly enjoyable. I was apart of the fandom from the original 01 up to Tamers, and I've been wanting a dual audio DVD box for a VERY long time. And I know other fans I was friends with at the time probably do too.

The Friends 10 season box set is nearly $200 bucks, as are other television boxsets, so seeing a 32 disc 4-season anime for this price is a steal! I hope they release dual audio uncut movies as well.

There are single DVD sets of Digimon, yeah, but none of them are dual audio, if I recall? So this is gonna be the only way to own the Japanese audio version on DVD, unless they decide to release Japanese single-seasons in the future. (Incidentally, I meant "kids" as in teenagers/younger fans...not necessarily actual kids, sorry I wasn't clear. ^^; I already hear older teens/20-somethings complaining when anime box sets are more than $40, so I can only imagine how their eyes are bugging out over a $230 SRP.)

I've got no beef with Digimon--I've seen the first two seasons in Japanese and thought they were a lot better than the edited version. It just wasn't something I really got into as much as some people. (Like, I like Pokemon, too, but I haven't watched the anime in years, lol.) I didn't mean to come off as "eww, Digimon!" or anything, heh. I know that this box set is a big deal for fans, which is why I posted about it in the first place. ;)

When I say kids I mean 20 and under. I was just having a discussion about how anime fans from as old as 24 and under seem to only buy dubbed, so I didn't think that this boxset would be for them. LOL
