I think its totally possible, but I know it would have to require some sort of chip either installed in people's gunpla, or buying a gunpla that has something embedded in the plastic to register on a pad to play.
I never saw that, wasn't there another Gundam series that was geared to actually building Gunpla? Yeesh, getting so hard to keep up with this!

Ah, it was an OAV. That explains my knowledge gap. http://hlj.com/product/BAN965296/Gun

I was thinking Gundam Age.

Anyway, the problem lies in developing a system that can do ANYTHING with a Gunpla, any modification, any accessories. It wouldn't be good enough if all you did was swap existing limbs and such. Adding thrusters or additional armor via plastic sheet wouldn't register if there was an RFID chip embedded in the model.

There would need to be a notepad where such things could be logged in, and a vetted system judge that would assign values- propulsion, maneuverability, protection, weapons strength and damage.

Well, that and being able to actually animate the gunpla in a 3-D holographic environment. That's gonna take more work and science. :)

So Funimation announced they're going to be releasing one of the oldest anime films ever: Momotaro Sacred Soldiers. http://www.funimation.com/blog/2016/05/ ... d-sailors/

This is a war propaganda film, but it has a lot of historical significance. Interesting that Funimation, of all companies, picked this up.

Also, Viz announced they'll be releasing "standard edition" versions of the Ranma BD sets: https://lesleysmusings.com/2016/05/31/v ... -ranma-12/ I'm guessing the special edition ones sold well enough Viz thinks economy versions will also do well, that's good news.

Discotek had some good announcements at Anime Next this weekend: new pickups include the Jungle Emperor Leo & Black Jack movies (both will get blurays), Demon Lord Dante (unedited), and a new blu-ray for the Golgo13 movie. Also not anime but the puppet series Star Fleet (that GI Nagai helped on) was also picked up!

Thing is, Star Fleet might be English only, Discotek may not have access to X-Bomber. I guess it's all pending whatever.

Yeah, Discotek said they MIGHT get the Japanese version. Guess it depends on if the studio wants to give em the matere or not.

Some Anime Expo news:

-Funimation will be re-releasing Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence
-Escaflowne Blurays are slated for release in October, each version will include both the new AND old dub
-Nozomi will be releasing Nadesico on blu-ray
-Nozomi also announced more Gundam news:
MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM 0080 WAR IN THE POCKET,
MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM F91,
MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM 0083 STARDUST MEMORY, and
MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM 0083 AFTERGLOW OF ZEON
All will have blu-ray releases EXCEPT War in the Pocket, which has no BD in Japan.
-Flcl 2 news says basically the entire staff of the original is on board for the new series. Same character designer, music director, etc.

I THINK that's all for now...

Speculation is that Victory Gundam might be announced within the next few months also.
