I was recently able to get all of the Hyper Police DVDs that Image released in the '90s. Great deal, fairly cheap and some of them were still sealed. I'm nearly at episode 20, so only a few more to go. Not a bad series, but it's not one of my favorites. The main characters are likable, but it certainly isn't one of those shows where I feel a dire need to get to the next episode.
As the month goes on I'll probably watch more horror-related anime titles for Halloween. I plan on re-watching Highschool of the Dead and I have a couple shows on Blu Ray that I have yet to see, like Another and Dusk Maiden of Amnesia.

I marathoned Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day last night. I've been watching too much sad anime lately, but I can't help it.

Gundam Unicorn episode 7.
It was okay. While I enjoyed this series overall, some parts of it struck me a bit cold as well. The ending is full on Magic Newtype stuff, and while I never minded the Newtype elements in Tomino's shows, I can't help but feel that other Gundam directors sometimes treat it more as magic sci-fi, which I never felt from the Tomino shows. He treated it more like a mysterious latent ability rather than an excuse to spam rainbows and trippy space visuals.
The use of CG in this show is touch and go. While on the whole it is well done, the keen eye can spot when they use CG as the skeleton for certain shots of the Gundams--usually close ups. Most of the fighting is otherwise animated more traditionally.
I'd have to watch it as a whole sometime later on before I can properly pick apart the story. I feel like overall it's better written than 08th MS Team and 0083, especially politically, but it doesn't have as suspenseful a lead up to the climax as those shows. 0083 was completely ridiculous from a standpoint of characterization and dialogue, but one can't deny that the lead up to the climax was very exciting.

I plan on watching Gundam Unicorn later this month but almost finished with Kimagure Orange Road TV series. Pretty fun to watch but it uses a formula and style that won't work with today's and younger anime viewers.
Also, I am watching Garo Honoo no Kokuin, an anime adaptation to a tokusatsu franchise. Instead of taking place in modern Japan or future Japan, this takes place in medieval Europe. I wish Amemiya Keita, the creator did the designs of the characters. The character designs feel like a cheap Tatsunoko knock off.

Aside from watching The Samurai, I watched several more episodes of Nadesico over the weekend while staying at the in-laws' place. I really do not remember any of what I am watching at all. Could it be that I gave up watching the show 10 years ago? I don't know. I'm getting into it more now, though.

Gundam Build Fighters Try
(I think it's really supposed to be 'tri' for the three friends but you know what happen with Anglization.

)
So two episodes in and it feels exactly what I hoped for- 'Zeta Build Fighters'.
It's 7 years after the events of Gundam Build Fighters, there's been some changes, some evolution but not much. new characters are introduced, old characters are referenced and make cameo appearances (Mr. Ral looks to be a regular) and the joy of building Gunpla continues to be promoted. It's harmless stuff that makes me smile. Fanservice is given a nod here and there now but no MOE. It's a nice show and you don't see that much anymore.

Ok, has anyone else watched SeHa Girls? Because it's about Sega Consoles personified as girls who play old Sega games and it's pretty amusing to me so far. XD

Wow! How do you find out about shows like this? This is so cool! Well, it seems cool. I found the first episode subbed on YouTube easily enough. Check out the characters:

The design for the Master System girl reminds me of Hatsune Miku. They cheat a bit by having characters for the international console releases that had a different name (Sega Mark III --> Sega Master System, Mega Drive --> Genesis, etc.). I'd never heard of that Tera Drive before! It's an IBM PC clone desktop with a built-in Megadrive guts. Neat!
The only console they're missing a girl for is the
Sega Pico. My daughter has one, with several games. She doesn't play it much anymore, though. It is an educational game system for kids. It's guts are basically a Mega Drive/Genesis and it is controlled by a touchpad stylus.

It's available to watch legally on Crunchyroll:

I heard about it because it's done by the same guy behind gdgd Fairies, which I loved, so I was really curious when they announced a series about girl Sega systems, lol. The Sakura Wars reference they did in the second episode was what really made me go "Oh, yeah, I'm definitely watching all of this!", admittedly. XD;;
Huh, I'd never heard of the Pico! They probably chose Dreamcast, Saturn, and Mega Drive as the leads because they're the most fondly remembered, I'd assume. I agree that Saturn looks very Miku-ish--but that's probably because the character designer is the same as Miku's!

If you check out the link, there's even MORE Sega girls (I wonder if they'll eventually show up in the anime?), but still no Pico, sadly.

The first episode of the Sega anime available on YT craps out abruptly. I watched it last night. The sound effects really put me in the mood to play some video games.
Sega really, really needs to make a Dreamcast 2. Make a no-nonsense game console that focuses on great gameplay and not nickle & dime you to death with stupid microtransactions. Nintendo doesn't get into microtransacctions, however their gameplay has become too gimmicky. I just want a controller in my hand, not some wand set or a handheld game console in front of the TV.
