Old tape traders...whatever happened to them?

Just trying to find out if anyone else traded tapes with my contact Masaaki in Nagasaki? I lost track of him back in 2000 and now have no idea if he is alive or dead. I did try to search for him a couple times in the past but came up empty. But for him, there would have been no fandom as there would be no tapes...
