What caused the C/FO to fall apart?

The roughly mid-90's and earlier (generally pre-Toonami, pre-anime boom) era of anime & manga fandom: early cons, clubs, tape trading, Nth Generation VHS fansubs, old magazines & fanzines, fandubs, ancient merchandise, rec.arts.anime, and more!

I'm writing a piece for Reddit's r/HobbyDrama on this topic. Will it be fine if I based the article on this thread?

Also, Fred Patten in his book 25 years said that Randall Stuckey had link to Anime Hasshin. Is this true?

Randall Stukey (it's "Stukey", not "Stuckey", Stuckey's is a chain of roadside gift shops) was a member of, and I believe the editor of, an APA titled "APA Hasshin". This APA had nothing to do with the Anime Hasshin fan club, which was run by a completely different person (Lorraine Savage) in a completely different part of the US.
