California's "Japanese Fantasy Film Faire" (1979-1982)?

The internet suggests that these events were produced by kaiju-film promoters Bob Johnson and August Ragone, but I haven't seen anything about the events directly; has anyone ever written about them more in-depth?Fred Patten wrote:Japanese Fantasy Film Faire 1, on December 15-16, 1979 in a mall in Union City, was promoted through comic book specialty shops and on San Francisco-area TV.
