I thought Bennett was running or co-running JACON in Florida.

If you look at Steve Bennett's Facebook, it's pretty clear he's now living in Seattle.
JACON's last convention was in 2009.

I wasn't even aware of that.
According to the googles, it seems that Florida Anime Experience (FAE) is the soul successor to JACON, so it never really died, much like AD Vision.
