The Old School Otaku Lounge

There was a time a few years ago when I was regularly visiting weekly meetings set up by an anime circle part of a national manga/anime association where I live. As I've mentioned before I was thinking of picking this habit up again and now I have. They show anime in one of the rooms and it's a mix of new and old. I also visited their tent at a hanami-centered event and picked up a couple of leftover fanzines, nothing amazingly old though (2002 and '06). Amusingly they were playing an 80s anime showreel VHS on an old TV/VHS combo unit.

Is anyone else here involed in something like this nowadays? What is there in your area?
