Hi, I’m Chris and I’m excited to have found this forum.
While I can’t tell you what the first anime I saw was for sure, I probably rented it from Blockbuster. I do remember some of the stuff I saw back in the late ‘80s, early ‘90s when I was a teenager: Vampire Hunter D, Dominion Tank Police, Akira, etc.
I didn’t delve too deep into the fandom, though. No fansub tapes, anime clubs or things like that. I did experience the high cost of collecting anime on VHS, though as I had Bubblegum Crisis that way and had maybe 6 or 7 Ranma 1/2 tapes.
Over the years since I’ve seen some more anime but it’s been sporadic until more recently. I’m kind of returning to the fandom, I guess.
I seem to like all eras and genres of anime but have a soft spot for the ‘80s and ‘90s. Due to lots of years not watching much I have soooo much I want to see.
Outside of anime and manga, I have an interest in other aspects of Japan, including the language.
