So is K-On worth watching?

Post by greg »

This show seems popular with my junior high students. Is this show moe crap or is it decent, like along the lines of Haruhi?

It's a show about high school girls forming a band. It is quite enjoyable. And of course there is moe at times, it's about high school girls. It's a great comedy as well.

It's cute and has likeable characters and (as Heibi said) is centered around several high school girls forming a band and the hijinks therein. I enjoyed it a lot, but if that description does not sound compelling to you (ie. those elements are not your cup of tea) then no. I don't think it is "moe crap", but I'm not gonna say it is "universally great" either. It's a fun show.

Great! That sounds good enough for me. I will give it a shot someday. I figured it was about playing music, because I've seen K-On music books and even guitar picks at a local music store.

Speaking of high school girls forming a band, have you guys seen the Japanese movie "Linda Linda Linda"? It's a fun movie in which some girls form a Blue Hearts cover band and ask the Korean exchange student to be the lead singer.

Too bad I've moved away from my friend who has tons of anime. I wouldn't be surprised if he already has this series. He has more modern anime, whereas my collection is more retro.

The good thing is that rightstuf.com ships to Japan.

I agree with this statement 100%. I have always loved cute character design work, so I'm enjoying the current summer season specifically for that reason, but other people have other things that draw them in.
