VHS trading and fansubs in the modern era: Anime Herald

Post by davemerrill »

Anime Herald looks at the history of VHS fansubs in North America, and how the scene survives and thrives in the modern era! If you were ever wondering where that fansub of the Macross movie you watched at the anime club meeting in the back of the comic book store in 1986 came from, wonder no more. https://www.animeherald.com/2024/03/02/ ... odern-era/

Interesting piece! And I believe it features our own Chibiboi in it!

I, personally, would have liked to have seen more about the modern scene (I know I've mentioned it here about me not understanding the resurgence) but I think the piece was well structured for people who could be entirely new to fansubbing to analog media. I think it is incredibly interesting that there is a modern scene at all, especially since there seems to be good representation of folks interested in archiving and not just collecting.
