what i just watched and what i thought about it...
this should be a good thread ...but before i post any info i would like a little lesson in how to make a spoiler tag for this forum...because if we post stuff about anime that others have not seen yet we want to be able to hide it so as not to ruin the experience for them...stuff like: i watched x anime and they all died when y character went nuts and gave them all blow fish enemas...i hope that there really isn't an anime like that ..if so i just spoiled it for someone...

I actually don't think that this forum software has spoiler text support built in, sorry. Can you make due without it for the time being? Just write something like SPOILER WARNING

ohhh ....okay well then....i'll be posting here about anime that i just finished and what i thought about it and would encourage other also so as to get more info for deciding what to watch or not....but since spoilers aren't supported it would be good to limit the amount of direct info about any anime and just give your impressions positive or negative...

How about Macross? Maybe you've heard of it.BikeLover wrote:In short not to impressed with tasunoko beyond Speed Racer.

So you don't care for other shows like Tekkaman, Casshern, or Yatterman?

Seriously?!? I've only gone as a tourist (longest stay: 10 days) and I've done both of those things.BikeLover wrote:Most of those programs features foreigner that lived here for months but never had soba or visited an onsen. Or so they want us to believe.

Was watching Toy Hunter last night and they had a bunch of vintage Battle of the Planets toys on. It's a fun show but seems to be one long advert for the people making money on selling old toys. Some neat stuff though...

Many of my students saw me on NHK when I visited the Shizuoka Hobby Show in May. I wasn't aware of it, but the camera was on me for a while. "Hey look, the event draws a rather international crowd" is what they may have been trying to get at. People who didn't see me asked if NHK interviewed me for the news, and I was glad to say no. I might not turn them down if they'd asked what my impressions were, but I wouldn't go along with it if they'd told me what to say. Apparently this happens on Japanese news, I've heard.BikeLover wrote:Heero.
Not kidding you. At Comiket 82 last weekend they interviewed a few people in their 20''s about what they think about Japan. Like they represent all of us.
Most 'foreign' talento are all halves and were raised here. Few true foreigners make it in the media here.
There is a video somewhere on the Net was taken from Japanese TV that featured a group of American otakus who visited Japan on some anime tour. They went to the Tokyo Anime Fair (or whatever it's called) and went about to different places. It was so staged and put on that it was hilarious. The girls cosplayed when they went shopping in Akihabara, they went karaoke singing and sang anime theme songs, etc. One guy could actually speak Japanese well, but the rest couldn't. Basically, they all looked like a bunch of weeaboo retards and were a laughingstock. It turns out that one of the guys in the video came out and said that they were told how to behave and told what to do and where to go and how to go about doing it. Hey buddy, welcome to the world of Japanese TV, where make-believe becomes manufactured reality. You agreed to go on TV and behave as they wanted you to. You could have said "no." To be fair though, American TV is not much better, especially with their "reality" shows. Dog Whisperer walks up to somebody's house, and cameras are already inside the house waiting for them. "Oh hi, so nice to meet you. Is this your dog?" How many times did they rehearse that before they decided to keep the footage?

You've mentioned this before, but I fail to count many similarities, except for the longing for a mature, long-haired, mysterious girl. Does Maison Ikkoku ever evolve into a love triangle show? I don't think I've ever watched the show, but I have read the first three or four volumes of the manga.BikeLover wrote:One of my fav Anime and I still say KOR is a poor copy, IMO.
