I went to Kinokuniya when in NYC end of June. Found a little mini danbo to go with big danbo ;_;

I've always like Danbo, I keep meaning to get one of the poseable figures of it. SO CUTE.

My cute obsessions are with Toro Cat and Rilakkuma at the moment.

ME TOO! Being an ALT in Japan, I can score points with boys for being into Gundam and such. I can score points with girls because I am obsessed with Rilakkuma, Snoopy, Jiji, Hello Kitty, etc. I freaking LOVE going to character goods stores in Japan and I've done several videos of such stores for my YT channel (Kiddie Land, Yamashiroya, etc).

Sgirl, my daughter was here when I watched your Yotsuba unboxing videos and she liked that robot. She really likes goofy robots, just like her mom.

aww, you know the Danboard is really just cute. I used to put the bigger one on my artist table at AWA and people would run over to look at its creepy lit-up eyes and ask me if it was for sale .
I actually regret not buying a whole army of them at Kinokuniya but at 16 dollars, it's pretty pricey - considering its big bro (sis?) was probably 45 at teh time I got it?

Not all are Japanese, some are Toki Doki (Italian but deeply inspired by Japanese products) and some are Kid Robot.
But then I have really weird toys -- like the miniature REment food things. THey totally fascinate me because anything small makes me kind of crazy to collect it.

And sometimes I just get toys because I want to know what's inside that blind box. (I'm so easily entertained.)

Just a word on the danbos -- the ones that lack logos are harder and harder to find... so if you see one, run and get it



I kind of have an obsessive collection of other figures though that aren't cute at all. I tend to collect anything Kenshin although I haven't quite talked myself into anything more than 50-60 dollars a pop. (So I've teetered on whether to buy the awesome Shishio, Kenshin, and Saitou ones issued a year ago. The Revoltechs interest me except I didn't like the pants much so bought the FIguarts instead.)


But anyways, keeping on topic, more Danbo + Yotsuba

I like Toki Doki too! I have the Moofia figure (cute cow with a Tommy gun). I used to buy the Toki Doki wall calendars, too. What I don't like about Toki Doki are the drawings of women covered in tattoos. The whole cute characters plus sleazy looking women is too big of a dichotomy for me.

My daughter and I are nuts over Uglydolls. And Bossy Bear. Anything David Horvath is cool with me. I have vinyl figures of Bossy Bear and Kaiju Bossy Bear. I buy anything Uglydoll-related for my daughter. The Uglydoll books are hilarious and I read those often to her at bedtime.

We occasionally find Uglydoll stuff in Japan, but they are still limited to specialty shops like Bulldog and Village Vanguard. They are so cool and cute though, a perfect example of busu-kawaii, so I can't imagine why they aren't widely popular in Japan yet. David Horvath designed a character called Little Bony, which was used for some AKB48 TV program for kids.

I totally admit having a killer weakness for cute things. Just ask Nitro, our bedroom is basically jam-packed with my toys and things. I love character goods as well, mostly characters from like...Sanrio, San-x, Tokidoki, that kinda thing. But I also have character toys/goods from Japan that are Disney, Care Bears, or MLP. XD Basically anything cute. (Bonus points if it's Spooky and Cute, like little ghosts or monsters, lol!)

Yeah, I love those milk cartons in the Moofia-verse.... also Cactus Pups.

And yes, I have a fascination with San-X and Sanrio...
Of course these aren't what I bought... people just give them to me. I seem to react really well to them maybe...
