YMCK is addicting. Their offical website is here:
http://www.ymck.net/
They play mostly '60s inspired style music with a J-pop flair, with music composed by a Famicom music chip emulator on a Mac.
Their music videos are adorable, with most of them featuring 8-bit caricatures of the trio. Unfortunately, the videos have been taken down due to copyright infringements and such, and the official channel only has samples of the videos here:

I have two of their albums so far, Family Racing and Family Genesis. The first time I heard them was on a video featured on the Nick Jr. kids' show Yo Gabba Gabba, which has gained quite a popularity with the older crowd because it showcases exclusive songs by well-known indie-label bands such as The Shins, Apples in Stereo, The Ting Tings, and Ladytron.
YMCK makes great background music, and I intend to buy the rest of their CDs, eventually. Very fun stuff.

Very cool group! I was supposed to interview them a few years ago. I was supplied a live concert and their albums but when the economy went south for the labels, it was put on the backburner.

Making beadsprites is a big hobby of mine, and for my last project, I made one of Midori from YMCK.
This sprite was taken from the CD insert to the album "Family Racing."

That's pretty cool!!! Btw...are you a big chiptunes fan or oldschool 8-bit music fan?

I like both. My first exposure to chiptunes was a Kraftwerk tribute album called 8 Bit Operators. The whole album was chiptunes composers, and aside from the final track on that CD, it was great. I really enjoy YMCK, 8bit Project, Fantomenk, and several other musicians on the Net I can't think of at the moment.
As for game soundtracks, I often listen to nolife-radio.com, although I wish they would only play 8bit and 16bit music because I get sick of hearing the Parappa Da Rappa tracks. Do you know of any online radio stations that play nothing but retro game soundtracks?

Um, that was a complete non-sequitir. Kitaro has absolutely nothing to do with YMCK, aside from being Japanese.

I actually saw these guys live up here:

A fantastic show! Also watched them streamed on the net some months back. Not perfect, but watchable.
