I kinda saw this coming, seeing as we've gotten 2 new Dragon Ball Z movies recently, but still kinda cool! I'm glad they're getting Akira Toriyama to help them with the series...hopefully this will make up for how dreadful Dragon Ball GT was!

They have Dragon Ball Fits gum in stores these days. I'm not big on chewing gum, so I haven't bought a pack. Still, it's neat.

I think for me, I am cautiously optimistic about this. We've been burned in the past, namely Dragonball GT. I absolutely loved how that series started - the SF adventure show - and hated that it tried to carry on from Dragonball Z with the only links between stories being characters that were resurrected from the previous series.

I loved Kai in presentation and practice - cleaned up the show for a modern presentation, cut stuff that had been a point of contentious criticism for decades and aimed for introduction to new fans and nostalgia bomb for old fans. I'd like for this series to capture nostalgia for both of those audiences.

Yup! Funimation's said that last year, their release of Battle of the Gods movie outsold EVERYTHING ELSE they released--and that was the same year they released Cowboy Bebop, Attack on Titan, AND Space Dandy. So that says something!

I wish Toei was putting as much effort into their other stuff as they seem to be doing with Dragon Ball, but Toei's really slipped in quality over the last 5-10 years, sadly....Still, I'm glad at least Toriyama's on board. Even if the animation turns out to be sub par, hopefully the story'll be there. :)

I cannot wait for this show!!! :D

Granted, I am very partial to Dragon Ball, as it remains my favorite series even after all of these years. I thought Battle of Gods was excellent, and I'm really looking forward to Revival of F when it arrives in the U.S.

I think they key to this series' success will be just how involved Akira Toriyama is; Battle of Gods certainly seemed to benefit heavily from his return to the franchise. If he is as involved with the TV series as he has been with the two latest movies, I expect it to be a great addition to the franchise. He truly understands his characters, and no one else seems to be able to capture that same magic with the franchise that it's original creator can. Akira Toriyama's lack of involvement with Dragon Ball GT (other than some initial concepts and sketches), in my opinion, is what held the series back from achieving its full potential.

I'm not too surprised this is happening, considering how well Battle of Gods did. For quite some time I was a Dragon Ball fanatic--especially when the episodes were originally airing on Toonami. I still enjoy watching the show in its entirety with all the subplots intact (one of the many reasons I despised Kai, which cut so much out) but always felt the series should have ended right after the Frieza arc. I'm partial to the Cell saga too, but interest in the characters, plots, etc faded after that. My dwindling passion for the show may have been due to Cartoon Network taking so long to air those Majin Buu episodes, but I think I just tired of seeing the characters ascending to new power levels at the drop of a hat when faced with some new foe.

Regardless, I'll be interested in checking out the new series as I really did enjoy Battle of Gods and eagerly look forward to Revival of F.

According to this post on Kanzenshuu, it seems as though Dragon Ball Super will begin airing on 05 July 2015. Snippet from the original Kanzenshuu post:

As of this post, the TV schedules for most major networks (including Fuji TV) have been released up through June, which have episode 159 scheduled to air on 28 June 2015. Assuming there is no break between the end of Dragon Ball Kai and the beginning of Dragon Ball Super, the latter will begin syndication on 05 July 2015.

I am very curious to see how Dragon Ball Super will impact Dragon Ball Kai internationally. Although the Buu arc is currently airing in Japan, we haven't received those episodes yet in the United States. It seems as though a good bit of Dragon Ball Kai's success came from outside of Japan, so it would be strange to see the final episodes not receive an international release. However, with a new movie and a new show, you have to wonder exactly what kind of priority Dragon Ball Kai will be for international dubbing and distribution.

I figure the time here to be 8:00 PM Eastern time on Saturday July 4th. Hope that's right. Now to find a stream for Fuji TV. There are several that run on things like XBMC. Mostly though there seem to be a lot of pay services for streaming Japanese TV channels though several are available free on my Roku through the Pear Channel app. Fuji TV isn't one of them though...
