Just finished up a big Let's Anime all about the '84 Lensman film and the 30s/40s pulps that inspired it and the TV show that came after it and the two different manga series and the recent followup Japanese novel "Samurai Lensman", and the toys and the computer animation and how one of the manga artists also did manga for the crazy horror/comedy "Hausu". It's all there at Let's Anime!

Re: Let's Anime: Lensman
I honestly didn't know there was a TV series until pretty recently. At this point, I'm not even sure if the only version I saw was the actual movie or the Harmony Gold TV compilation.

I've never seen the HG TV compilation, but the quick rule of thumb when it comes to Lensman anime is, if it has Mentor or Tregonsee (the alien barrel-shaped Lensman with the tentacle arms) in it, it's the TV show.

Another great post, Dave! I wish that Hausu manga was easier to find. It looks so cute! Great post, both fun and extremely informative! It got me excited to re-watch my copy of Lensman on laserdisc (once I get my LD player repaired...).davemerrill wrote:Just finished up a big Let's Anime all about the '84 Lensman film and the 30s/40s pulps that inspired it and the TV show that came after it and the two different manga series and the recent followup Japanese novel "Samurai Lensman", and the toys and the computer animation and how one of the manga artists also did manga for the crazy horror/comedy "Hausu".
