Re: My summer plans...

Yeah, I have quite the backlog and always bouncing around here or there. I do find that some way of tracking (I use MyAnimeList) per episode watching of series helps keep track, especially if it is not on a streaming platform. Mostly because I often will start something, watch a few episodes, start ...

Re: A-Kon 1997 report

A good write up - not really of the convention itself admittedly, but it captures a universal theme, I think, of when people have had too many bad or disappointing conventions. The bad travel, the cramped rooms, dumb fights and binging alcohol for a weekend - it speaks to me and where I was about a ...

Re: It's Back - Akihabara Renditions

So way behind in this thread - our annual tradition, the grand-daddy of them all - Christmas Craptacular VII!

Speaking of way behind, I finally got some time and energy together to put our latest episode together, a review of the 1994 OAV You're Under Arrest.

Re: Your memories of anime theatrical release?

Yep, knew about the multiple locations for La Fonda and Fellini's; when I think of Fellini's, I always think Decatur/North DeKalb or Poncey, so "as far west as Buckhead" surprises me . Anyway, this isn't the Atlanta Restaurant Guide. With a lot of anime screenings being run through larger netwo...

Re: NHK Animations X Tokyo Paralympics 2020

Looks like there were two episodes added since I last posted. Episode 7: Para Cycling X YOWAMUSHI PEDAL - A look at cycling for disabled athletes. Episode 8: Para-Badmitton - Another wheelchair modified take on an able-bodied sport. With COVID-19 right now, the 2020 Olympics are still kinda up in th...

Re: New free North American streaming app: Retro Crush

I've downloaded the app in a couple of my Firesticks and been poking around the catalog a bit - lots of interesting stuff there in the catalog. It's been some of my afternoon background noise when I don't have a lot of meetings for work. I feel like there is a lot of stuff there that is available st...

Re: Your memories of anime theatrical release?

The first anime I saw in a cinema was Princess Mononoke when it did some limited runs here (probably about the same time Dave saw it, though definitely a different theater). We went to The Tara, which is an art-house joint in North Atlanta and I remember it being an afternoon matinee. Myself and a c...

Re: Rise & Fall Of The Shogun Warriors

I never knew that Godzilla toy was a part of the Shogun Warriors line. I bought one of those from a flea market when I was a kid and despite how weird it was for Godzilla to have a rocket punch action, I loved the hell out of that thing.

Re: What ettiquette was there in the days of Usenet?

Yeah, idk if there was that much of a difference in "etiquette", so much as there were some groups where people just got along better? There was still plenty of jerks online, I remember plenty of drama in some mailing lists I was on back in the day. I think that now that online socializing is way m...

Re: What are you Watching?

Blah, tags. I remember liking Recca alright when it first came out...I haven't revisited it since it was considered "new-ish" though! I'm sure it probably hasn't aged as well as the things it was heavily inspired by...I do still think the opening is catchy tho. Same. I remember picking up Recc...
