Re: An index of prominent figures in the early anime fandom?

Does anyone here know anything about Robert Fenelon, one of the founding members of Michael Pinto's Star Blazers fanclub, and the guy who Michael entrusted the club when he left in 1984? I only know that he was an editor for the club's fanzine. I've met Rob a few times at Anime Weekend Atlanta. Rea...

Re: Gainax's English language newsletter GPress USA at Let's Anime

Cool article - I appreciate the deep dive into yet another piece of Gainax's operating history in the US. You and Sean/zimmerit are doing the Lord's work! I have to wonder though, how much of this in history has been lost to time? GenePro USA gets a (seemingly) passing mention from people who were t...

Re: The Show Off Your Figures/Models Stuff Thread

That's a neat garage kit. Have you checked the manufacturer's website or anything? What are you trying to do with MyFigureCollection, add it to your personal collection? That's probably a real dumb question if I think about it (and have another cup of coffee...) I checked scalemates.com, one of the ...

Re: It's Back - Akihabara Renditions

2019 has been off to a busy start - and that means we've been prepping new work for AkibaRen but haven't been able to get anything finalized and published until now. I wrote a big article looking at older, "classic" series and releases announced in 2018 across various companies and platforms - the S...

Re: How did you discover anime?

For those of you who became anime fans before it was mainstream, how did you discover the medium? I've always liked cartoons and my dad and I shared an interest in comic books; when we went to a comic book show, a few of the dealers had some bootlegged tapes (the flyers advertised "Japanimation") f...

Re: anime hell 60s show

Glad it went well; I wondered if the weather would have hurt attendance but glad that it didn't seem to hurt it too much. There was a Saturday Morning Cartoon screening that day at the Royal Theater earlier in the day, and that took out some of the audience, who OD'd on milk and cereal (seriously). ...

Re: pages from C/FO Magazine V2 #3

Thanks for scanning these, Dave! These were really interesting to read through! The Chapter Screening Roundups go show by show and there are abbreviations detailing what was screened where. There are six pages of this so I haven't scanned them all, but the anime series being watched at C/FO meetings...

Re: Japan Travel Suggestions?

If you're into plamo, I wish I could remember the name of the shop in Akiba I stumbled upon when I went in '09. I remember them having several new or recently released kits (where I got my Aoshima Garland and Bandai R3 Layzner) but they also had a treasure trove of really old kits (like my DYRL Stri...
