Re: Another Let's Anime blog?
There are a lot of abandoned Blogspot blogs out there that get taken over by spam-bots that post weird strings of keywords designed to attract clicks - I think back in the 2000-2010 time period it might have been possible to make a little money directing traffic towards ad sites that way. I still ge...

Re: Another Let's Anime blog?
it was some kind of automated cut-and-paste thing, ripping me off. There were several blogs like that out there, I had to send Google some DCMA notices. It's frustrating, but thankfully they seem to be a thing of the past.

Re: Flying Phantom Ship BD from Discotek
the film got fansubbed a few times, and I did send Skaro a copy of the script I had someone translate for me so he could subtitle the film. Jeez, that was ten years ago. Time flies!
Can't wait to see this on the Blu-ray, and I hope this inspires Discotek to release some other 60s Toei films.

Flying Phantom Ship BD from Discotek
Well, never thought this would happen, but here we are, Discotek just announced Flying Phantom Ship - the 1969 film with key animation by Hayao Miyazaki, based on the Shotaro Ishinomori manga - getting a BD release with dubs and subs here in the West! Re: Can anyone please help my article on the fall of C/FO?
I think this article is great - it covers all the main points and is fairly even-handed. Honestly, it's the sort of article I think Anime News Network might be interested in publishing - it ought to be read by anime fandom as a whole.

Re: NEED HELP WITH 90s ANIME TEES
the old shirts I have? I literally wore them until they fell apart. There's a "Captain Herlock" (!) shirt that survived the ocean, car wrecks, more conventions than I can count, and it has weird stainy patches from sitting in the bottom of a cardboard box for years, but I'd never part with...

Re: dubs time forgot??? twitch event
I'm going to be showing TV episodes of dubbed anime from the 60s, 70s and 80s. There are name changes, celebrity voice impressions, and general brain-addled confusion-type voice characterizations, and if this is the kind of thing you find entertaining, then by all means this is for you! Apart from o...

dubs time forgot??? twitch event
I figured it was time I did a streaming anime thing, so Monday May 23 (which is Victoria Day here, what they call the "May 2-4 weekend" because we get that Monday off) I'm doing a Dubs Time Forgot streaming event! I'm going to screen some full episodes of kooky old forgotten dubs and talk ...

Re: NEED HELP WITH 90s ANIME TEES
so are vintage t-shirts the latest "investment collectible" that people are determined to get in on the ground floor of? I've been hearing from a lot of my friends that they've been getting all kinds of ludicrous offers for old anime shirts they happen to be seen wearing in social media po...

Re: Article on the fonts of Fanta's Zine
Great to see that early issue of Fanta's Zine. I believe Patten was using an IBM Selectric, a model which had several different typefaces. I do believe other members created their own submissions, APA style - in the early and mid 1980s, desktop publishing pretty much meant the text was produced usin...
