Re: An index of prominent figures in the early anime fandom?
I think it would be really helpful to have something like an anime fandom wiki page - there are online pages that document fandom, like "fancyclopedia" (https://fancyclopedia.org/Fancyclopedia_3) and "fanac" (https://fanac.org) that are databases detailing convention dates, fanzi...

Re: Robert's Rules (not the Anime Corner Store guy)
Anime conventions started as a subset of fandom conventions, which are your Star Trek conventions, your Worldcons, your Dragoncons, your San Diego Comic Cons, etc. This culture started with the first fandom gatherings in the 1930s and 1940s, where writers, editors, and fans would congregate in one p...

Re: Anime Expo Badge Collection
Thanks for sharing! This is a historical exhibit of badge printing technology in real life - I love seeing how the badges change from simple pinbacks to full color die cut holographic hanging lanyard badges.

old school afternoon anime program on twitch

Well, if you missed it, I'm going to be showing the entire playlist this upcoming Sunday, June 30, from 12 noon until 6pm ET, on my...

Re: Former No-Name, Fanime staff
welcome to the board, Matt! I have never been to Fanime but that yard sale event sounds really attractive to me, the Bay Area being a hotbed of anime fandom for so long. I imagine a lot of fans are unloading a lot of interesting stuff.

I know Dragoncon was doing full-color badges at some point in the 90s, which kind of caused a problem when the badge art wound up being reproduced i...

Welcome to the lounge! It's kind of low-key here most of the time but maybe we can get it a little busier!
