Thanks! I feel like my collection isn't really anything to brag about because I started so late collecting LDs, so I am glad to get some positive feedback on it.

Re: Rumiko Takahashi --- The Godmother of this forum

I think I was more obsessed over the ending of Ranma 1/2 when I first got into the series. After being heavily involved with it for a couple years, it ended up getting spoiled to me. Whatever. It wasn't until I first heard the sitcom comparison that I started to look at Urusei and Ranma in different...

Re: The Show Off Your Figures/Models Stuff Thread

Neat stuff! Don't MG Gundam kits fall apart real easily when you touch them and try to pose them? That's what I've read online. Some guys give up on them because they're so flimsy. Especially the transformable ones like the Zeta and such. In my experience it really depends on the age and kit itself...

Buy/Sell/Trade Offers Accepted

I've been trying to cull the herd of anime stuff I have and lighten the load of stuff that I'm just not getting the same use of again. Some of these are duplicates, some are posters I've never hung up or DVDs I don't watch any more. I'll gladly accept payments or trades but free to good home can be ...

Re: Laserdiscs

All of the talk about elephant condoms and seeing the inserts quoted in this thread made me wonder how many of my discs had them. I figured I would get some collection pictures redone as well since I had all of them out. I had to break them up into some different categories because I've been taking ...

Re: The Show Off Your Figures/Models Stuff Thread

So, I've been meaning to set aside some time to take a whole bunch of pictures since last posting in this thread, I finally got around to it. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-cyHisjIkMV0/Uy799KoSvNI/AAAAAAAABL0/6oOBQAweuiw/w764-h432-no/IMAG0171.jpg I only had a few kits completed and unpacked. I p...

Re: A twofold post, an idea for a new feature and a question

I never spent that much time digging through the Anipike, but it was a valuable resource in the days before Google was all-encompassing. My gut feeling is that social media like Livejournal and Facebook came into vogue and made online fandom a lot easier and more connected - why make your own websi...

Re: Laserdiscs

Ben - thanks from me, too, for all of this wonderful LD information! I know some of my discs have elephant condoms (don't recall which ones, will put that on my chore list this weekend) but ordering some Novus and sleeves is probably a good use of some birthday karma, especially since I've been shop...

Re: What is missing from your anime or manga collection?

I browse one or two local thrift stores about once a week, surprisingly I've yet to see an LD player I'm like you - I've never been able to find LD (or even Betamax) players at my local thrifts. Either I don't go enough (which is entirely fair to say that) or I've always hit them at the wrong time....

Re: Rumiko Takahashi --- The Godmother of this forum

I am a huge fan of Takahashi Rumiko - I love her designs, artwork and stories. I think my favorite work overall is Maison Ikkoku but I was introduced to her through Ranma 1/2 in the late 90s. While Ranma 1/2 had been huge in anime communities and conventions, at that time I was still getting involve...
