Nice collection! I haven't been to a con in a decade now. I have no idea who the new artists are anyway and my faves are mostly pretty old or dead. Unless by some miracle I get to Japan (and it never happened in 30 years) it's unlikely I'll ever see them. I've heard that it is harder to get these sketches at Japanese conventions unlike at US or European ones but I don't know if that's true or was like that only in the past.

I think these are my favorites, except for one that is set aside.

Awesome stuff, guys!! Unless anyone tells me not to use their images, I'll be hoisting this stuff up onto the Time Capsule on the site proper soon (in the middle of updating my local copy of the site -- will upload the updated pages all at once once they're done).

I've used tumblr because it's an easy way to get yourself out there as opposed to a normal blog. Anyone who follows your blog can reblog, and probably a good chunk of users' blogs are simply just posts made by other people they thought were cool. I know there are a number of older fans using tumblr (and I have tried to invite several) so it's just another social media tool we can use to get more fans! I also think it might help to have a Facebook fanpage?

I'm slightly impressed both that that one caught your eye, and also that you know who he is. Okuda-san is a pretty cool guy. Itoh-san will ALWAYS be my favorite anime industry pro, but Okuda-san was really fun and personable. If you're a Tenchi manga fan I think I still have stuff from when he was in town (I mean, aside from the obvious).

 I recognized that it was Aeka first, then said to myself "Oh wow, is that a Okuda sketch?!" and read the Japanese to confirm it. I know my favorite artist's styles when I see them. Since Tenchi Muyo! was one of my first and favorite anime, I got into collecting the single issue comics when Viz was releasing them. And now I'm trying to track down the graphic novels. I really love his drawings and he really makes the Tenchi characters look fantastic! I also recently bought an anime DVD based on a manga he did, 'Detatoko Princess', mainly because it listed him as a character designer. That's amazing that you got to meet him and get a sketch, I'm pretty jealous!

Hey Dan, I stumbled across your published letter in Animerica about Dragon Warrior. It's in volume 4 number 7.

HOLY CRAP!

Dude, awesome! Amazing that you found it.

Kinda sad, that letter is my only mark on the anime world. Makes me think I should, like, do something with my life. :)

Thanks, Daniel!

Miss Dream recently posted the entirety of Animerica Vol. 6 No. 11 (1998) on their site: http://missdream.org/?page_id=4334
They even went to the trouble of scanning the insert cards, which amuses me. ("Subscribe to Animerica and get your AWESOME Fatal Fury Poster!")

Miss Dream started out as a resource for all things Sailor Moon, and that's mostly their focus, but they also serve as a great archive--they have scans from lots of old shoujo manga magazines as well as old Mixxzine scans.
